‘Shitty post-hardcore’ saturdays

Dear god this is good. I’ve never heard of them before, but this popped up on some random split album. Hope the rest of their shit is like this

Edit: Yeah, they’re fucking great. Apparently they’re a very new band so I hope they keep this level of energy up. What a hilarious name, too

Hey @KvlT do you get into Sikth?

Yes! I wish they would release stuff more frequently, but that album has a surprising amount of bangers on it, along with the EP they released when they ended their hiatus!

Didn’t realize there was a new Kae Tempest album! Not my genre, but I like his work. Still doubling down on the spoken word stuff, which I don’t care for, but the hip-hop tracks are good.

Interesting duet with a pre trans self. That’s a cool idea!

Mathcore? More like methcore. I’ve been hooked on this shit for like an entire week now

Yeah… I like pretty standard math rock myself but really anything with a math time signature is sick - there’s something about it that’s just brain tickling. I wish somebody would make more ambient mathcore. Not quite breakcore - but more like “indie math rock” if that makes sense

I like the edit more - it’s just got more vibe to me… Probably the more regular time.

Tera Melos is a good math rock band:

I’ve been listening to Ott. After trying to find some new dub music (not to be confused with dubstep wubs) This is a good album:

Spacehop > dubstep
Totally diff than dubstep wubs
I love Ott!

Bluetech has a new album coming out btw..

Also I’ve been listening to Sempra:

Album art looks awfully familiar lol…

I don’t hear much about this song, but I think it deserves more attention. Arguably better than most tracks off of this album.

“and also a cowbell” :joy: :joy: :joy:

I fucking love Gautier & really can’t wait to hear the new Igorrr.

The choir part with the up-pitching down-pitching is mind-blowing.

Watch this BTS now!

Imagine being able to explore those sounds without worrying about how much it cost or how long it took to put together. Gives a sense of freedom and creativity.

That would be the dream, wouldn’t it?

But Igorrr are not rolling in money. Gautier’s earned everything he has by working hard on music-making for over 20 years. I’m pretty sure they are well aware of how much it all costs!

Omg I am fucking fully engorged

I loved “note melting” from chord to single root/any note in choir practices. We used to do that as an exercise. So cool. I wish I recorded that.

Idea a for a cool ableton MIDI rack:

Chord melter.

Might be easy to do actually but would take time to get the parameters right. Make it time adjustable, use 3 oscillators set on paraphonic setting. Could possibly set this up on the Pro3 as well.

Do any known plugins do this?

And I need to make a giant saw gong… fuckin immediately.

I would get so much option paralysis with that, personally. If there were people around to just help me with whatever crazy idea I had, it would almost be too much. I know he also puts a lot of time and effort into what he does, so I’m not knocking what he has going on, but sometimes the limitations of not having a budget or insane gear can be extremely rewarding, too. I don’t think just having a shitty laptop with free tools is embraced nearly enough, or seen as the powerhouse it truly can be.

But I definitely think he’s going to push things forward and continue to inspire others for a long time, so that’s a huge plus, too . Even though I’m not a fan of his music, I think he’s redefining a lot of crossover territory that’s still kind of uncharted for the most part. If he spawns a new wave of industrial / breakcore / metal bands, I’m sure I’ll fall in love with at least 50 of them

Weird ‘release radar’ find

I honestly think he may be borderline autistic. The guy writes all his crazy music down. He can play the guitar, piano & probably other instruments. He does 100 takes with a theremin he plays to get the one take he likes (instead of just chopping bits and bobs and patching them into a melody). The level of perfectionism when you listen to his records is apparent.

Igorrr is more “industrial” than pretty much any so-called industrial band of the last 30 years. He is the real offspring of Einstuerzende Neubauten, in that he creates his own instruments, records anvils and other metals, plays a broken old piano with an excavator, also records his chickens pecking grain on another piano, and is generally pushing boundaries left and right, mixing world music styles and ideas with baroque, metal, etc., with the unfettered enthusiasm of a child.

The psychotic guitar work here & there reminds me of The Agonist.
