The Movie Thread

Amazon’s acquired the rights to the James Bond franchise, and I’m just WAITING for them to milk it dry…
I didn’t mind the movies, but one a day is enough for me.

Ive seen so many movies at this point im just

Oh look someone made a bullshit film about some bullshit…

Which is why nowadays i just stick to watching movies like john wick and tenet.

Not a movie snob…its just like theres a lack of creativity and over saturation.

Mad God would like to have a word with you.

Watch some old movies. There’s 100 years of history to go through and a lot of those movies would not or could not be made today.

A favorite of mine is “Vertigo”. The original 60s one. I promise you, when you think you have that movie figured out is exactly when you do not have it figured out. Hell, almost anything by Hitchcock is great.

If you like John Wick, you might like film noire. “Double Indemnity” is a movie you’ll feel like you’ve seen before, because bits and pieces of that have informed so much of what’s come after. It feels like a cliche, but this one started all those noire cliches. You also get to see pre-war LA, not a sight you are going to see in any movie today - at least not to this extent.

I saw “Heat” for the first time a few weeks ago, and I still saw bits and pieces of “Double Indemnity” in there, but I also saw where like the last 25 years of heist videogames have come from.

Ive seen some hithcock.

Ive also seen heat…

But ive also seen 80s cheese and avante guarde shit movies…

The movies that stand out to me are authentic not marketed pretentiousness or performative pretentiousness…

Also sometimes i want to turn off my brain hence michael bays transformers.

Saw a bit of once upon a time in america…by sergio leone…4 hrs long…should of been condensed.

Paid in full is better then belly.

60s the great escape.

Dirty harry movies.

Pink panther with peter sellers.

Road to perdition was good.

Etc…

Some old mad max movies hit or miss…beyond thunderdome was great.

I like the new mad max better.

List goes on…

But as of recent cgi screen splooge and recycled themes and plot variations.

Most movies nowadays seem like they are dreamt up by the studios marketing department

Presence was really good. Highly recommended. Don’t spoil it for yourself, and don’t watch what I would imagine to be a shitty misleading trailer. Not a horror movie.

Fresh 1994 with samuel l jackson is on my watchlist.

I hardly watch movies, but I went and watched “A Minecraft Movie” about a week ago and it was actually really fucking good. Most of the movie was just Jack Black being a dickhead, but it was hilarious.

Fresh 1994 with samuel l jackson…

That is one of the best movies ive seen.

Terrifier 3
Awesome
i attached a trailer for you

I got the new 4K of On the Silver Globe and stayed up late watching it. I remember posting pics of the mythical restoration at least 10 years ago on the old forum. I’ve been waiting for this thing for 12 years!

It’s hard to find good pictures of this fantastic movie online, and I lack the means of capturing 4K, but here’s some photos from my phone:

Recently unearthed 1994 R rated horror/noir German animated film.

Got this from a loan from a friend. It’s a breezy 82 minutes. I don’t like animated movies outside of a few, but this was surprisingly decent and weird. I can see why it has a small following.

Saw Bring Ber Back over the weekend with my sister. Pretty damn good and scary movie, we both really liked it.

It’s an Australian horror by Danny and Michael Philippou. They have done another movie called Talk To Me, which I’m planning on getting for my Plex server after seeing Bring Her Back

I went in pretty blind not knowing much on purpose. Once I see a trailer for a movie like this, I tend to make a mental note of it, and then avoid additional promotional content so I don’t spoil anything. I decided to do this for movies after one of the trailers for Smile (the first one), contained what would have been probably the freakiest and most surprising jump scare in the whole movie. So it was a little disappointing to get to that scene in theaters only to know exactly what was going to happen. I’ve pretty much sworn off trailers since then.

Anyway, Bring Her Back It was not what i was expecting, but in a really good way, and I would recommend horror fans see it for sure. The story, cinematography, characters and there development, score, and sound design are all really immersive and awesome, and the cast does a fantastic job. Would love to know if any of you end up seeing it.

Not a spoiler per-se, but censoring my warning for those, like me, that like to go in blind.
Fair warning: This one has a fair bit of violence, gore and disturbing shit involving children.

The movie PCU with jeremy piven made in 1994 accurately critiques the modern political climate…it was wierdly prophetic…

Conspiracy theory the movie is hard to get a hold of nowadays because of its political commentary and its not convient for the elites, for if it was distributed a lot more people would realize how they are being manipulated and exploited politically.

Or it could be the studio that made the movie went out of business and didnt have enough profitable films to warrant a buyout from another studio so that the movie pcu could continue to be distributed.

I’ve heard that about Idiocracy too.

Just watched the Australian 4k of The Fall (2006). I discovered this movie thanks to a half-remembered Roger Ebert overlooked movies list back in the day. Notoriously hard to find since the bluray is long out of print, but probably easier to find these days.

Every frame is fantastic, and the story itself has weight. It’s been a favorite for a long time. Highly recommended.

Warfare (2025) by Alex Garland was very good. Not my usual genre, but it definitely left an impression on me. Better than his last two movies by far. Highly recommended.
