The Movie Thread

Normally I don’t like movies and modern narratives at all, but I just discovered the wonders of Tubi, and that’s probably going to change. It’s like somebody took an old video store’s bargain bin, filled it to the brim with washed up classics, trashy horseshit and B-movies and slapped a ‘free’ sticker on it.

Move over, Neil Breen.

I love nearly all comic book movies. Even most of the bad ones.
Except Morbius.
We don’t talk about Morbius.
Fuck Leto, man. He ruins absolutely everything he touches.

Went to see Smile 2.

Best horror movie I’ve seen in a long while.

Naomi Scott did an amazing job. She won’t win anything for this but hopefully she’ll get starring roles in bigger movies soon, she really deserves it.

In most horror movies, you don’t care about the characters because they’re basically meat, they have stupid cliché lines, do even stupider things, etc. Not this time. She made us really root for her character. What a performance!

It’s getting good reviews, but I still haven’t seen the first one. My backlog is almost all horror movies.

I stayed up late and finally watched Enemy by Denis Villeneuve, which I didn’t really care for. Nice title cards, though.

Just saw it today, I loved the original but holy fuck, 2 was excellent.

Very rarely does a horror film surpass the original, and this did. Best horror sequel in a long time.

Film was absolutely relentless, 9.5/10. Horror film of the year contender for me.

I think the first movie was the best , second movie personally for me is just casual horror movie…:face_with_diagonal_mouth:

But Smile 2 was good, not average. It has strange ending though.

I liked the ending because it showed the extent of the mindfuck.

The Substance was fuckin’ gnarly. Maybe the most batshit final act I’ve seen in years. Definitely will go down in the halls of legend for the body horror genre. Cronenberg and Carpenter must be proud.

@nose I actually just finished watching it lol. The Substance is fucking incredible. What a visual feast of a film. I felt sick most of the way through until the last act where I was just like “You did it. You crazy sons of bitches, you DID IT!” Take my money, I have preordered the disc!

Fun movie, that.

Strange thing is that I felt like I was watching a video game for most of it. Or maybe that would make a great video game.
