Normally I don’t like movies and modern narratives at all, but I just discovered the wonders of Tubi, and that’s probably going to change. It’s like somebody took an old video store’s bargain bin, filled it to the brim with washed up classics, trashy horseshit and B-movies and slapped a ‘free’ sticker on it.
I love nearly all comic book movies. Even most of the bad ones.
Except Morbius.
We don’t talk about Morbius.
Fuck Leto, man. He ruins absolutely everything he touches.
Naomi Scott did an amazing job. She won’t win anything for this but hopefully she’ll get starring roles in bigger movies soon, she really deserves it.
In most horror movies, you don’t care about the characters because they’re basically meat, they have stupid cliché lines, do even stupider things, etc. Not this time. She made us really root for her character. What a performance!
The Substance was fuckin’ gnarly. Maybe the most batshit final act I’ve seen in years. Definitely will go down in the halls of legend for the body horror genre. Cronenberg and Carpenter must be proud.
@nose I actually just finished watching it lol. The Substance is fucking incredible. What a visual feast of a film. I felt sick most of the way through until the last act where I was just like “You did it. You crazy sons of bitches, you DID IT!” Take my money, I have preordered the disc!
Last night I had a little extra time in the evening, so I decided to watch my new 4K of Rollerball (1975). I hadn’t seen that movie in probably eight years or so, and I absolutely loved the visual aesthetic. There aren’t really any screenshots online outside of some cheesy looking stuff, so I screen capped some.
You think there’d be more instagram accounts that would pick up on this kind of thing. I used to like retroscifiart, and they still post some good stuff in this sort of vein now and then but also a lot of anime these days.
I saw the Interstellar IMAX re-release the other week. Probably the best movie I’ve ever experienced. Sydney has the largest IMAX screen in the world at this point in time at 97 x 117.2 ft. This is my second visit to this theatre (first was Dune Part 2)
The sound, while too loud in some parts for my ageing ears, was absolutely phenomenal. The sub woofers were going nuts in the climax parts of the movie.
honestly Idgaf i will watch anything with Jason Statham no matter what. I’ve watched Beekeeper a few times, it’s silly but absolutely fun
Next film that was recommended to me was Better Man. Movie buff friend says it’s one of the best in the last decade and i trust their opinion even though I don’t quite get the chimp thing
