Some iteration of the Nord Lead?

Prophet 12 isn’t exactly a VA, but it has digital oscillators, so not sure if that counts.

Totally slipped my mind earlier, but Studiologic Sledge. Don’t worry, if you don’t like yellow, I think they started making it in black a few years ago. Personally, I’d get the yellow though…

Are any synth makers doing virtual analog nowadays with the abundance of analogs on the market. It seems that it’s digital, analog or hybrid these days. I know that Roland are doing their analog modelling, but that’s the direction they’ve gone. For virtual analog you might want to go back in time a bit. Also what’s your budget and what do you currently have?

How about the Cobalt8x from Modal?

After watching this video i talked the wife into getting me a Electro Voice 635A Mic for christmas :joy::rofl:

Their actually pretty hard to come by in the UK, she had to order from a little unknown company in the UK who in turn ordered it from Germany.

Sounds nice. I haven’t been keeping up on the new stuff so much lately, but it’s this that has just caught my eye checking it out, as someone who just doesn’t need another keyboard, or have space for one.

That little thing in the front there. Would have to be at a good price point,

Ah so you watch him too

That does look interesting. Not finding it for less than 195 here in Germany though. Maybe something to grab on my next trip stateside.

Yes he’s quite therapeutic to listen to.

I left a comment saying I’d seen Elvis use that Mic on several videos, he replied “well we won’t hold that against the Mic” which I thought was funny.

The Mic cost my wife £168

I found it in the U.S. for $135, so significantly cheaper. I have a short list of a few things I would like to buy when I am over there again…mostly a nice set of Grado headphones, that are just tons cheaper over there. Makes for some fun planning for (hopefully) next year.

I think you could look at Alessandro headphones in Europe. It’s been a while since I got my Grados, and I remember doing some comparison shopping because the two companies basically share R+D. IIRC Alessandro distributes much more easily in Europe, but is impossible to get in the US, and Grado gets the US market.

But if it must be Grados, then let me say I would never, ever get rid of my SR-225s. I’ve had those 7 or 8 years now, and they are slowly dissolving (the pad material literally leaves a dusty black circle around my ears when I wear them), they are the most uncomfortable headphone I have ever worn, and yet they are somehow flimsy and light and I treat them most gingerly lest they should decide to fail on me. I don’t wear them often, but that once or twice a year I pull them out is a treat every time. When you’re in that mood, nothing can touch them. I recommend rock/punk/country with them.

Not sure if anybody has already mentioned the Modor DR-2 it totally went under my radar, was looking at Stephan Bodzins instagram page yesterday and noticed he had two in the studio and they sounded good.

Basically a digital drum machine, 6 channels, each channel you select a drum model, each model has 12 parameters to tweak, kinda like how Model cycles works.

at £1849 its expensive, however i thought it does sound great on the limited videos available at the moment

My current project looks like this. Each column a huge drum kit for drums and bass, then a column for audio clips i played on the Microfreak as leads, then effects, then two more tracks for played bass synth

^Curious if you enjoy composing in that way.

Serious question, no judgment.

It’s the first time I’m planning a set Vs writing a song and I’m loving it, I’m using it as a giant scratchpad, then I tweak and make them flow more.
The other positive side is that I can easily export this to an Ableton set and just develop the best parts into a song. Or record some bits to arranger mode and continue on the Force

I feel like the visual feedback is so key for live performance here. I know it is possible to practice and train one’s muscle memory, but who has time for that!

That was the navigation view, the standard view gives you all the feedback you need, see below.

You can easily see what’s playing and how much of it is left.
You can similar cues also when you’re in other views, for example when mixing you also have a small bar to show the play head for each track.

Edit: I should colour and name my clips and tracks better…

Oh cool! Yea, even the screen before that seemed really useful (despite my poorly written sentence). That is even more useful. Stop making me want an MPC lol.

Will need a Force for that. Which of it wasn’t clear, I really like.
Also I spent a session working only on the looks of the set, making things easier to navigate by colour coding the different sections, was time consuming but worth it!

I mostly slept through all the Black Friday stuff, so I’m sure they’ll be something I want now that it’s back to normal XD Oh well. I really don’t want for much atm anyway. What I want is a gd new video card and they’re so hard to get :unamused:
