Outsider material for sure, but I’ve been considering picking this thing up. Not sure how much of my life I want to lose to it just yet, but I don’t think it does audio output and that could be a dealbreaker.
This makes it pretty tempting, though

Mostly been playing retro stuff on my modded Wii lately. Recently have been into Donkey Kong Country, Mario 64, Grandia, G Darius, Klonoa, and Metal Slug X.
Idk why, I just cant commit to modern games anymore, they feel like they take way more time

Have you tried Journey? Same team, they did Journey first and I think it tells a more… coherent? story. If you have a playstation, I think you can get a triple pack with Flower and Flow as well. Flow is fun too, and I heard good things about Flower back in the day.
I like the art direction on Abzu more though, you can basically put that entire game on a mood board for how I want to decorate an apartment.
Picked up Saviorless the other day on Steam. Started playing last night. Didn’t get too far but so far I like what I see.
I recently played through The Utility Room twice, which is a VR game. I thought it was fucking great.
Here’s a no commentary playthrough from the dev. Highly recommended If you’ve got a headset and like weid shit.
Playing through FF6 at the moment with my son to improve his reading skills without stressing him out - I just love that there is no voice acting in these old games 
FF4 is next on our list - haven’t played it in decades but I remember that I really liked it back in the days. After that on to Chrono Trigger, then FF5 and then I have to look for versions of the old Seiken Densetsu games without voice acting - the remakes always added it sadly…
Also, my toplist would bascially just be some Final Fantasy games and the NieR, Deus Ex, Mass Effect and Mana series…

Finally picked up Balatro. I totally get what the fuss is about 
.
Unfortunately my daughter doesn’t let me play it a whole lot since she prefers the loud / colorful stuff, so Blazblue and Riptide Renegade are usually on tap. But I start jonesing for Balatro like it’s a drug

I picked up Star Wars Ep 1 Racer yesterday for 6 bucks. Blew through it in an afternoon, but I’ve spent worse money than that. Really excited for the new star wars racer later this year.

Played through Rescue Rangers on the NES, which was one of those games I would often rent and finish over a weekend back in the day. I love the music to this game. It’s fun and easy to finish as well. Gave me warm fuzzy feelings of playing on a Commodor 1702 moniter, which I used in my room well into my teenage years.
Decided to follow that up with the second game, which is lesser known. I’ve never played it aaaaaand holy shit, this is almost Ninja Gaiden levels of difficulty. I had to save state my way through it and even that proved a challenge. Not nearly as charming as the first game. I had some memories unlocked due to seeing some screenshots in old Nintendo Power magazines. The whole tone was a bit darker and gave off “We’re not fucking around this time!” vibes.
Good times.
So I had a few days free from work and decided to finally play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (the second part of the remake). It had it on my PC for over a year, waiting for some free time. Very mixed experience.
Game was full of bugs, like everything from fatal errors, freezes and textures and models not loading to the character getting stuck in the scenery or stuttering (going back and forth) while walking. But the worst thing is, they made this classic deep, story-driven emotional experience an Ubisoft open-world “make 5000 boring and completely meaningless sidequests on every new map” thing with endless minigames and hours of new conversations with silly new NPCs that feel like they were written and/or translated by AI.
Of course, in the second-to-last chapter I encountered a game-breaking error that resulted in a blackscreen every time. Didn’t even google for remedies, it was like a sign from the lifestream to save a few hours of my life.
I was thinking about posting this in the “Enshitification” thread.
Although the visuals were nice and especially the music was great, so many new variations of the original Uematsu songs, directly had to buy the 175-track OST to pay my tribute to Ubi-Shinra…
Fuck me, man. I picked up Mnemonimov and it looks like everything is going to work just fine on my system. This is going to be my new obsession like Virtual Circuit Board was. @GomesR, have you seen this one yet? I’m surprised both are ‘deck’ / Linux compatible because most of this shit isn’t.

I was in the VCB discord and saw that they announced it a month or so ago, but completely forgot? VCB got intense super fast for me and I never played much, but I’ll certainly be grabbing this one as well lol
