Apologies for all my posts, I’m just trying to stay awake and not crash too early on this Sunday evening!
Playing a color hack of Super Mario Land 2 (OG Game Boy) on the steam deck. I always liked this game, and now it looks beautiful!

FO3 is my favorite of the fallouts. I started there and haven’t played the older ones, but I think it walks the right line of being serious while having some silly stuff. I think the newer ones maybe get a bit too silly sometimes. But then there’s the Mothership Zeta DLC, so IDK.
I played it on PS3, which is the WORST possible way to play. Every playthrough is a speedrun, because each save slowly degrades the world. Also no energy weapons allowed because if you disintegrate someone the goo piles/ashes never despawn and slowly clutter the world with too many objects. And, occasionally, the framerate just tanks and you get SPF mode (seconds per frame). And even with all that it was still a good game. Much better on PC at a reliable 60FPS tho.
BRO FUCK THAT GAME
not as bad as Contra3 but fuk
Do you mean writing your own mods or just getting mods to work? ![]()
I’ve always wanted to get into some very gentle modding, maybe just something stupid for starters to see if it sparks any ideas, but I’m too lazy to actually do it
Just getting mods to work. ![]()
Lessaria is pretty much the best Steam Next Fest demo. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
I hardly ever game with my wife because we don’t like the same shit (she games about 1,000x more than I do), but after 10 goddamn years we finally found something to play together. You can’t beat multiplayer ghost hunting, and strengthening that teamwork muscle. Fun shit.
I’m also pretty surprised at the depth of it; on the surface, it looks like shit, the training level doesn’t really teach you the game mechanics at all, and it feels underdeveloped… until you scope out the wiki (I guess this is how the youngsters do game manuals now?) and start figuring shit out. The mechanics are pretty terrific, and it’s one of the best early-access releases I’ve ever played.
Currently switching between; Football manager 26, Marvel Rivals and rotating in and out story games, or my older saved games on steam.
Last few days I’ve been playing the OG original arcade version of Mortal Kombat for a fairly petty reason. Apparently Sony is giving refunds for the new Mortal Kombat Kollection for the PS5 because the young’ns playing it say it’s too hard because the game cheats… Which, yeah, it does. I used to beat MK in the arcades stupid drunk on a single credit when I was really in my prime with the game, so I figured I’d give it a shot after decades away from the game just because they said it was too hard. So far I’ve made it to the mirror match without continuing.
Back to playing Warframe again, and I’ve completed “the lotus storyline”, if that makes sense.
No spoilers, but my god did that get good. Now I just have to complete the Entrati storyline and I’ll be done with all of the new main quests ![]()
God I love this game, I really can’t express how amazing the game, story, and community is.
Warframe is an amazing game. I had spent a lot of time in it. Might have to have another look, i had seen quiet a few updates and things.
Hell Let Loose and World of warships is my go to atm.
Are you running it on MAME? I boot up the Genesis version all the time (I’m sure it’s much easier!) but I’d love to compare the two, along with NBA Jam, just to see how bad the rubber-banding is. Arcades were brutal ![]()
Yes, I’m playing with MAME but with an arcade controller, I even stand up at my desk when playing it to get back in that frame of mind. The springs for the stick could use some tightening as I’m used to a stiff joystick in the arcades but other than that it’s pretty good.
Fez! After 13 fuckin’ years and three starts, Fez finally clicked for me! Why have I never really played this? Love that Disasterpeace soundtrack. Hyper Light Drifter is one of my top five games, and this really has the same atmosphere minus the difficulty.
I’m doing my laundry and about to go grocery shopping once I get it in the dryer, got all my yard work done yesterday and just wanna spend the rest of this Sunday playing that game once my errands are run.
DUDE! Fez is like a top 5 game for me. I got pretty close to getting all the cubes and anti cubes when I was in college.
There are some crazy puzzles as you dig deeper. And agreed, it’s a very chill soundtrack, part of my BGM playlist I listen to sometimes at work. Have fun, and let me know what you think when you’re done. I played it a little bit earlier this year, for the first time in a decade, but had to drop off pretty quickly because of life stuff. Still keep it installed on all my gaming PCs just in case I find the time and inclination to go back to it.
@White_Noise It’s great! I know about the cryptography stuff, but so far I really like it.
Have you played Hyper Light Drifter? Same aesthetics. Highly recommended. Tunic is also sort of similar to Fez in a way. I didn’t care for the second half of that game, but if you like Fez you might wanna check it out.
Haven’t played hyper light, but I did go through Tunic last year. Agreed, that game is gorgeous. I’m not a soulsborne fan though, so after spending two days failing to get past the second boss I just turned off death and then the rest of the game was EZ mode.
I really like what they did with the manual. I think the devs did a GDC talk about how the music is a secret language in Tunic too, which really made me think of it more as a spiritual successor to Fez.
I played Tunic on normal until I got to those purple plague guys that permanently remove your health pickups with each hit. I wanted to like that game more than I did, but the difficulty slider was either balls to the walls or invincibility.
Hyper Light Drifter has an “easy” mode that’s very fun. Gives you an extra health bar and energy tanks stay on the map, but it’s still a challenge. I don’t care for soulsborne games myself, but on easy it just feels like a normal game. I’ll sing that game’s praise until the ends of the earth.
If you like Fez, I can guarantee you’ll like Hyper Light Drifter. I’ll Venmo you five bucks if not lol!
Never mind, I just discovered and got through Sewers Hell lol. This game is full of surprises.
I love Cave Story, and I’m getting some of those vibes. Why the fuck did it take me so long to play Fez? ![]()
