To What Do You Owe Your Happiness Today?

Just taken delivery of my first set of studio monitors. Like me, they’re cheap and cheerful.

Some of my old mixes sound terrible - not because the monitors are bad, just my incompetence at producing. All the gear but no idea.

Upcycling is my jam brother. Good on you. I made a cable tray for the underside of my desk made out gutters grates and zip ties.

Anna Von Hausswolf, the crazy Swedish pixie is visiting the US for a short tour in 2026 and I just got the presales code (“facingatlas”). I would advise anyone reading this to go see her. She’s something else.

I could not miss out on this but was worried about pricing… Turns out it’s dirt cheap!! $22 per ticket + TicketMolester fee = I got 2 tickets for $59 (!!!). In this day and age, that’s rather incredible, especially for an artist travelling all the way from Europe!

Re: L.A. - The Moroccan Lounge has a capacity of only 250, so that should sell out rather quickly.

Broadcasted this, called people at my job jerkoffs for pushing my buttons and said that they can go fuck themselves because they never learn.

No hr meeting, no my getting in trouble.

Cause i expressed this through those subliminal stories, sometimes you gotta speak to people like the psychotic retards that they are.

Been feeling a lot better.

And im still working there..and people stopped pushing my buttons

Just got a shitload of faders and vertical potentiometers so I can make the world’s shittiest midi controller. Just have to wait for that aliexpress boat to dock, maybe sometime this year

The most hilarious part is grabbing a knockoff stm32 just to get free shipping. I wonder if the damn $4 thing actually works

Took a moment to step back and look at how far my musical skill has come since I started using garageband all those years back… I might not be the new Skrillex, but I think it’s important to be proud of your skills, because there’s only a relatively small amount of people how know what you’re doing.

Also finished a track for a hardstyle competition, I’ll release it with my next album, probably.

It’s begins! Had an old hard drive with a lot of data fail, but luckily I had it backed up to my old laptop. Live 7 legacy effects still lives.

I never thought I’d see the day that you return to music. This is awesome!

Thanks! Yeah, just as soon as the data transfers are finished, which should be in about……..12 hours lol. Not gonna worry too much about lost data other than two unfinished songs. Won’t frett about broken VST’s and just start from scratch with my Kontakt instruments.

My old mic and the cheap interface I bought two years ago are up and running with ASIO drivers. Gonna meet a friend for a beer then come back and keep working on this. :+1:

My muscle memory is kicking in, and every time I remember stuff, I’m just like “Ohhhhh shit.” It’s been long enough to where it feels like something new.

I’ve been wanting to post weekly or bi weekly videos based on my time.

My setting up new patches for every synth, figuring out some of these synths I’ve had lying around, setting up sequences, etc. has made it not possible.

Well, today I just came up with a format for my videos going forward. I work weekends so around Wed or Thursday I’ll should have my first one posted in this new little format I’m going to do.

It’s fun to think about music again, but I still haven’t set everything up. Got a three day weekend and my evening job off tomorrow, so I wanna knock out some more stuff. I only have about an hour and a half of free time in the evening, and I don’t wanna spend it setting up stuff (still dealing with getting Kontakt library paths going and have gigs of instruments i need to download).

One problem…..I just wanna spend large chunks of money on music shit! Must….fight….the urge.

Still on Live 8, might upgrade to 12 before doing anything else. We’ll see one I properly start working on stuff again.

What do you feel like you’re missing? There might be a freeware alternative

Also, you should totally join the stream cult. Just stream your first sesh (or one of them), what could possibly go wrong?

Mostly a bunch of new Kontakt instruments, which I’m a sucker for. Also there’s a sampled drum kit I really like the sound of with like 20 round robins and a bunch of velocity levels. Stuff like that.

I’m going to sound like a salesman, or at least a terrible fanboy, but there’s been so many cool improvements to Live since 8. Tons of instruments, effects, sound packs and great stuff like MIDI automation and tools. It’s probably worth quickly zipping through patch notes of the major versions 9-12 to see what piques your interest. Obviously not everything’s for everyone so ymmv, but I think you’d be into some of the new stuff.

Yeah, I looked at some stuff today during my lunch break and certain things sound cool. I got so comfortable with live 8 that I never felt the need to switch, but it’s been five years since I even touched it and most of my presets are lost, so it’s not like I know my way around it.

Also I was like, “They’re on TWELVE now?” Lol.

It’s like 130 bucks or something, so I’ll probably go for that next month. I’ve already used my fun money for the month on some 4k discs.

So glad you’re back at it. I’ve taken my share of hiatuses from music but everytime I come back, that dopamine hit is strong. Even after long periods of being away, I still feel I progressed in many ways. Get it brother!

Actually I cancelled two pre-orders of some discs, ended up working eight hours of overtime today and volunteered for eight tomorrow (first overtime since the tariff bullshit), sooooo I’ll be snagging that Ableton upgrade tonight.

Seems some of my vsts are now vst3 files which Live 8 doesn’t support. Part of me is annoyed, but Live 8 is sixteen years old at this point (sixteen!).
