Update: Turns out the vocals were in the recycle bin! I saved the song as a new project, but forgot it was still pulling the vocals from the old folder. Glad I hadn’t emptied it out yet.

I’ve always thought this an odd reaction to a recognition of one’s own deficiencies — it should inspire you to achieve more, not drag someone else down to your level. Jealousy never made sense to me.

My usual dental place recently expanded with a completely unrecognizable staff that I found very pushy, and I left paying triple the normal price for a cleaning and just got charged 200 fucking dollars for cancelling my next appointment because the first was so expensive and I left feeling taken advantage of. This is with dental insurance. Will not go again unless my teeth are falling out lol.

The place is likely to have been acquired by a private equity firm. That’s what those fucking vultures do. After they’ve gorged on real estate, the next big thing happening now is healthcare.
The staff becomes a rotating cast, the prices go up all of a sudden and they tell you to do shit you don’t need, so they can maximize profits. It happened at the place I was going to. Sometimes you’d wait one hour+ for the dentist because he was dealing with 3 other patients at the same time… They would always try to nudge me to do all kinds of unnecessary work. I stopped going there and they can fuck off.
Found a small dentistry cabinet privately owned by a young doctor since. He and his staff are amazing. You should look for a similar place. Don’t stop going to the dentist on a regular basis, you are going to regret you did that later in life. Trust me on that.
PS: charging $200 to cancel: WTF??? Is that even legal??

EVERYBODY should read this fantastic book to understand how vile private equity firms are. You will be shocked by what they are allowed to do/how they can bury ANY business they set their sights on while making millions of dollars in the process. And all this because they bought politicians to have the laws they wanted. End result: we all get fucked.

Yeah, my mom told me that’s what’s happened when I was complaining to her about the bill. I had no idea the place was bought out. Luckilly she told me of a new guy coming, so I’ll have to see if he’s in network. There’s also a place a little out of town people like.
I will politely try to dispute the bill over the phone, but I doubt I’ll get anywhere. Fucking 30 day cancellation fee to an appointment they had me make that was only two weeks later. Scumbags. Oh well, we DO live in a distopian future after all.

Don’t be polite and dispute this with your bank. Block the transaction. This is outrageous and they did not give you one month to start with, so they broke their own fucking terms and expect to get away with it.
Fuck them all to hell, Don’t accept this highway robbery.

This is not penny pinching. Imagine the number of people they fuck over nationwide with their network of acquired dentist offices. They probably make hundreds of thousands of dollar a year in such illegal cancellation fees. If anything, that’s a class-action lawsuit waiting to happen.

penny pinching in the sense that they’d risk illegal activity knowing that a class action likely wont come together and that the losses here and there in something like small claims / one-off litigation is still less than if they were to retain or send counsel to defend the claim. believe me, i see the broad effects of their activities every day - im in the restructuring industry - i see firsthand what happens because of their greed.

A person that I know went to Poland for some dentist surgery work because paying out of pocket overseas round trip included and staying there…the total cost of that was a lot cheaper than in the states without health insurance… With health insurance it would be a little bit cheaper.
It’s worse than getting repeatedly cockslapped in the face by 20 erect dicks with herpes all of which smell like cheese farts in 110 degree heat.
Got the dental bill sorted.

I work at a company (1 year this week) that was bought out by PE almost two years ago now. They offered me interviews 3 times before I accepted because I heard the words ‘PE takeover’ and ‘first time co-CEOs’ and wanted nothing to do with it. It’s the best job I’ve ever had by far, but I can tell you right now we are not on track to deliver for our investors without some further major changes to the business. I just run the numbers, so how we get there isn’t my call, but I can see the way things will probably go. If the CEOs are Darth and the Emperor, I’m one of the analysts in the ISB that just keeps the machine humming along and tries not to think too much about what he’s a part of.
Our industry is a luxury and using our services is very much optional (and we’re not in property or medical) so I don’t feel bad about what/where we’re trying to optimize profit.
All that said, the only function I can consistently discern in society for PE is to function as a retirement fund for the owners of small to medium size businesses that want to cash out. In talking with some of our investors that have backed other deals, that’s the common story. If you just want to walk away and not worry about money for the rest of your life, sell your business to PE and you don’t have to think about running the business anymore, who will run it after you, how to train them, what your family will do with it if you die, etc. Just a big fat check and nothing but time to kill. And I don’t blame the guys that do it, they put everything into their business to make it successful and often don’t save as much as you’d expect because of it. And then they look up one day and they’re 65. So they have this thing that’s worth a bunch of money and a very short list of people who can pay them fairly for it. PE is just almost always at the top of that list.

I had limited tools…with just hammer and nails I built a rudimentary structure out of pre cut 2 x4s
The nails were warping as I was hammering them in…few broke off and had to make new holes to nail it secure…
I don’t own a power drill or nail gun…I don’t have enough money for that so did it the old fashioned way.
