Ice is supposed to fight human trafficking and prevent illegal crossings of criminals (not asylum seekers) from other countries. And yet they are also doing roundups of migrants that wait outside home Depot looking for jobs…which is fucked up because in an effort to make a better life some migrants are being taken advantage of as a cheap labor force…and plus they keep the population of America up because of declining birth rates…
Tldr some see the situation pessimistically, some are quid pro quo meaning trying to get new voters, others are genuinely about human rights. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows…some heinous stuff goes on with this.
National guard thing…vice news a few years back has reported the ongoing gang violence in Chicago despite efforts for gun control…and Chicago was at one point dubbed chi raq. Apparently this has gone on for years and Chicago does have a history of corruption…and villifying the police didn’t help. Middle ground make police academy a few years instead of 6 months to weed out bad seeds. But cities like Chicago, Baltimore and others have a history of problems part of it was continued fucked up policies enacted by the city officials. Being that honest politicians…. you know thats an oxymoron.
