Oh! So last night I went to this film production meeting with the producer/cinematographor, director/writer, mic operator, and the composer from Trash Film Orgy (OG sacramento production gang). this winter season I will be working on the foley/post-production/audio engineering for this full-length indie film. It’s like a campy, horror-comedy-action, silly-monster movie (lead character is a big dumb Viking warrior type character named Grunk the Smasher:
(It’s the name of the movie too)
I’m so excited because it’s going to be really fun and an actual real gig that gives me a little clout in this industry that I’ve always wanted a foot in the door.
There’s a lot of really silly sounds that I get to design and this is my first real film. It’ll be my first real film credit too (I’ll be on IMDB as sound engineer/foley artist! lol finally)
the film premiere isnt till May but here is the trailer I worked on:
Pretty much every sound I either created myself or edited. Had a blast. They were happy so they asked for me on the full length feature. Have a buddy from HS who does the mic operations on set who really vouched for me too. Everything kinda came together perfectly for this.
Couldn’t feel more grateful for having this opportunity to show my skills as not only a sound designer/engineer which I’m taking very seriously but also I get to share a little of my silliness and comedy through sounds. This crew is ridiculously awesome and I’ve been following them and going to their film festivals since like 2005 — one of oldest friends Ash introduced me to this whole sac film culture originally — kinda reminds me like rocky horror picture meets monster at blue lagoon type of parties: blood, bikinis, and booze — and now, full circle, I am doing sound for one of their films. So cool! Cant wait. Already practicing my “Grunk grunts” (I recorded all his onomatopoeias in the trailer with my own voice lol)… TEAM GRUNK!
