The Movie Thread

The first third was the best part, in my opinion. The second third turns into a relationship drama which is okay until you relize the movie isn’t really delivering on its premise and the male lead is an unlikeable and annoying character (how many times does he call his girlfriend “babe?” It was driving me nuts), and then it does a complete tonal shift into a straight commedy. I hated it. This ain’t no The Substance, that’s for sure.

I only watched it because it was the shortest thing I had on my laptop at 80 minutes. No idea why I even nabbed it in the first place since I can’t find any youtube reviews in my history about it, nor do I remember reading about it anywhere. I’ll be ordering the disc next month.

Predator badlands awesome

Now that AI is advancing snyderverse peeps can flesh out the snyderverse to their satisfaction and liking.

I saw some fan clips….and curiosity is satisfied…also there’s a chance Netflix might bring it back.

And it’ll either be a standalone universe or they will make it a part of a greater multiverse for dc using the flash to explain the different dc universes via the flashpoint paradox storylines.

The Coffee Table was really good. I’d heard about it and had a weird curiosity since reading the premise (and it’s certainly a premise lol). I recommend it if you’re into thrillers with very dark comedy.

I pulled out my old Bluray of Under the Skin for the first time in nearly a decade. It’s definitely a mood piece. These screenshots from the firast half stood out to me:

Rewatched Eden Log, which is a 2007 forgotten French science fiction film I’ve always liked. Haven’t seen it for a while, but I think it’s actually gotten better with age. Unfortunately the only HD version of it is the English dub (the actors at least shot all dialogue scenes twice, but the French version is better). You can buy the bluray cheap, but the French version is only DVD quality. I took a couple screenshots from a low rez download.

Outside of one scene I thought was out of place, I really liked it. If you’re a fan of Tsutomu Nihei comics, you’d like this. Starts a bit slow, and it’s definitely an art/mood movie, but it held up and deserves a bit more love.

A few more screenshots of On the Silver Globe (1977 Poland). Posted some screenshots last year, but nothing from the first act. Pics taken from my TV since everything online is from an old faded DVD print.

Watching The Running Man (2026 remake) and am enjoying it, even though it’s generally been shit on by everyone. I’ve disliked the roles the main actor Glen Powell has played in (god I hated his character in Twisters… i kinda just hated the whole movie though), and as a whole the movie is definitely ridiculous but i like Stephen King… plus the old Arnold movie isn’t great either (did not age well), we just like it cuz it’s old and… the governator. Lots of random actor cameos like William H Macy and Colman Domingo (actually he’s kind of an antagonist), Michael Cera. I didn’t expect much and so far i’m not mad at it (i’m halfway through). Also it’s directed by Edgar Wright who did Shaun of the Dead..

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I have three copies of it on VHS, two unopened and in protective cases.

The National Film Board of Canada (where Boards of Canada got their name) distributed, broadcast, and preserved it.

My friend loaned me the recent Excalibur 4k. I’ve never seen it, but holy shit did that print look good, and holy shit that movie was fucking great.

There was a couple of really shitty green screen moments, but I thought it was pretty good
