“Voodoo Love & Happiness”
by me

Acrylic & pieces of hair, fingernails, skin fragments, blood, and cum from both my then-girlfriend-now-wife and I, along with soil from a New Orleans graveyard, on canvas (2020)

I spent a few hours digitally painting this but still ended up wanting to do some external destruction to it for better character. And because I can’t paint for shit

You can paint just fine, now hush before i spank you.
My 2 cents: to me this looks like a representation of severe head pain, much like a tooth ache or an aneurysm. (I’ve never had an aneurysm but it’s decribed as an intense blinding pain, and if it’s worse than dental pain…i have a new irrational fear)
Anyways, the fuzzy details/definition give the impression of vibrations, rather than motion, which makes me think of waves of pain that causes you to lose the ability to see or focus on any one thing, so it all becomes noise.
Sorry if i’m coming off sounding like an art nerd, but i’ve always been fascinated (RE: Obsessed) with faces and ways to make them expressive, while stripping them of extraneous context, form and or function.
As an example, i painted the following image whole i was coming to terms how destructive my compulsive people pleasing was to my own well being. It is rough, not ‘very good’ and certainly not what orhers would consider very marketable.
But to me? It is perfect. It is a very powerful piece. To me. It shows me what is there when you peel away the idea of “self” or the facade of ‘identiy’. It shows the soul.

Again…i’m probably being too brainy about this, and gushing in an info-dumping manner, but like i said…faces are an obsession of mine.
And i think the face you made is fantastic.

No, info-dumping is awesome

I should find the OG painting, it’s actually shit, and I even traced something to get started like a true copycat. Thankfully I’ve got enough filters (some of which I created, and some externals) to turn my horseshit paintings into something semi-plausible, and I’m kind of OK with that TBH.

Your face is seriously awesome! Like, in an organic, talented, serious kind of way that blows my mind. I love all the texture going on here, too!

Thanks, dude, i appreciate the kind words.
That face actually helped me cement my desire to make art for myself, rather than a faceless audience.
It helped me to stop trying to satisfy others, which, in turned caused my output to explode exponentially.
With an increase of output came an increase in ability and skill.

Behind the scenes collage photos.

is that LSD

Lol, no it’s a tiny piece I cut out for my collage.

My collages DO look cool on shrooms though.

Been making some weird stuff today, starting out with some basic vector shapes in Affinity imported into Processing with some cool iterations, and then sent through Filter Forge for the final touches.

I even saved the iterative SVGs in case I figure out some other program or library that can handle them and transform them individually by some form of slut magic

I made a shitload of art for the next IDMf Retrospective, so I made a video collage of every image (1100) and sped it up with track previews from the upcoming album. This is my first run, I am going to run it through some more processing later if I have time. Dunno yet.
