This actually looks awesome to me, FWIW

I think it’s pretty cool, but yeah, the first thing i thought of too was Journey.

I get what you mean about the “dorky” bit, but that probably wouldn’t have been my first thought.

Album art is hard…

I wish high-level animations didn’t take 8 years to render because some of this shit turns out so crazy. Time to learn some legit GLSL I guess :man_shrugging:

since I got sober at the beginning of this year, and bought a house, I managed to finally have space to set up a full art studio and start painting again. only this time, oils, not acrylics.

Just finished my first complete oil painting, gonna be the album cover for my new black metal bands debut.

Learned a lot. Spent way too much time mixing blue/greens, cyans, forgetting how color muting worked until way late in the game. Overall, I’m happy with it. I don’t see myself doing too much landscape stuff overall.

Now onto some bigger epic scifi pieces

“Tomorrowland”
15.5 x 12.5
Downsized from a new 1200dpi scan.

It’s becoming tiresome and complicated rescanning my old large pieces at these larger file sizes. Photoshop won’t save files over 2 gigs, and this project was pushing the limits with it’s four separate scans. (The last three things I wanted to scan are comprised of 6, 8, and 16 separate scans) This took me four hours to piece together, and I’d rather just make something new instead of rescanning my old stuff. This was when I didn’t give a shit about size lol.

I had acweek off work and was conveniently sick for the whole week. So i did this to pass the time.
It’s the biggest, brightest, non spooky thing i’ve done.
I’m kinda proud of it.

love that background, what kind of materials are you using? is that mixed media acrylic/spray paint?

this ambitious project got some more sessions this weekend, slowly moving along. 18"x24"

gotta let’er dry for a while before I can give her eyelashes/brow follicles. Most of it is underpainting phase, lots of detail and blending to go over everything. I think the harder parts are done.

rest of the piece is going to be a mass array of cables and circuits bound into her head.

been jammin’ the post-industrial IDM future beat stuff while workin’ on this one.

and actually listening to a lot of @makeuswhole’s tunes, too. lol

Holy fuck dude, that’s looking sick! I had no idea you were such a talented painter. A true renaissance man.

Thanks man! I actually just started lol, this is my second painting. My old man is a seasoned published painter though so he helped me do all the initial research.

I spent a couple months reading about color theory and the physical materials before I even spent a dollar so its helped.

Hoping to do some album covers in time

The underpainting and figure were done in oils. The top layer of background was done with masking and spraypaint. It was a quick and dirty fingerpainting that miraculously took shape rather quickly. I’m still kinda surprised by it.
