Printing off some cysnotypes for a pop-up art show/schmooze jazz gig(i dunno…it’s supposed to be a joke, the jazz band, and i’m not sure how it’s gonna go) that is happening a week from now.
This is my favourite one out of this batch.

These would probably look amazing as a cyanotype. Can i take one of yhese images, just to see? I’ll even make one for you and mail it to ya?

Whoa, absolutely! That sounds awesome

Sweet. It’s gonna take a bit of time. I might be able to work on it Wednesday. I’m already full steam on the current prints i’m in the process of making, but i really wanna see this. I’ll make it happen. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Here’s the final scan of my very first collage, and here’s a little story that I haven’t shared about how I got into this:

Six years ago when I was between jobs, I checked myself into a rehab center in Cincinnati for a month because my ever-growing anxiety had become a threat to both myself and others when I was driving, and my sister who’s a nurse recommended that facility to me. One of the classes I was in was an art therapy class. We had a two day assignment to make a collage centered around our future dreams. The first day I crudely cut out some inspirational words and some random images and haphazardly glued them to a piece of paper.

On the second day, I started to look through the magazines, and the cogs started to turn in my brain. I asked if I could just make whatever and ended up making this. Throughout the course of my stay, I managed to make four more collages (bigass things that are a pain to scan lol). I still have a couple folders with clippings from the clinic.

I’m going to set up an online shop to sell some prints, I just need to finish rescanning these in high rez, which is a bit time consuming. Larger pieces need to be scanned in small parts and then pieced together.

It’s simple, but I still like this. I gifted it to an old friend a few years ago, but borrowed it for the new scan. This is a standard 300 DPI image. I’ve probably posted this before.

I’m getting closer to having everything finished. I really wish I had scanned these at 1200 DPI the first time because some of these scans are now on their fourth iteration, but I was still learning things about my scanner.

I’ll be doing one more pass on some of these to make sure they’re perfect once everything’s done. I should have another batch up soon.

Here’s my next batch of rescanned collages, including ones I felt the need to censor this time lol (and an old IDMf cover). That Beatles one was a present to my dad and is always a pain in the ass to scan, so I’m glad this is the last time. Five left, but they’re big ones.

Whatcha think?
I may have over-exposed it but i feel that helps to deepen the void.

The colors. Nice!

ISN’T IT GREAT FUN?!?!?
I love making faces with modelling clay. Because it’s so soft, all of the faces have a cartoonish quality to them. It’s like doodling but it’s 3 dimensional. I love giving my faces huge noses. Huge noses add so much character to faces.

Was doing some goofy shit with Processing and Filter Forge where I’d just cut out pixels of an image with very crude logic and replace them with some recursive or scrambled forms of the same image.

Is it art? No, not really. But I like to pretend it is

Here’s an interesting comparison between one of my gesture sketches vs the start of an actual drawing using sight-size that I did using the same reference image

It’s really reinforcing to me the need for training your eye to see what is actually there vs what you perceive. Gesture isn’t really supposed to be a direct copy, but I def missed some important relationships, and hella messed up her breasts and waist/belly.

Regardless, you’ll spot several differences between the shape of the model between these two. All in all I’m quite pleased with the drawing so far and plan on spending lots of time on it finishing it up. I’ve been doing so much gesture and was a little scared of trying to do an actual drawing, but I think practice has been slowly paying off.

First is gesture, second is the drawing/sketch so far.

i like the hard lines, reminds me of some of the alien architecture in Borderlands 3 which has some of the most beautiful scenery in a game.
