+1 for Walrus. I have two already (not Lore or Fable) and intend to get a 3rd in short order. Going to need a bigger pedal power supply for this.

I have the Meraki and Julianna, going to pick up Monumental when funds allow.
Also after Death by Audio Moonbeam (looks super sick, but it just came out a few months ago and I’m waiting to see if/when some used units come for a bit cheaper) and the Supro Analog Stereo Flange to complete my analog stereo FX toolbox. Also have a few cheap-o behringer distortion pedals. So far I think I like the Tubescreamer the most, so I might pick up another TS to have a stereo pair of those. Very panorama, much wow.
I got them for a killer deal, the fable is on my dfam and the lore is on my sequential take 5, they are both amazing pedals, very playable in a performance to make it like its own little tabletop effects units.
I think we’ve all had to do this at some point in time, maybe multiple times. I’m on #6 or 7 right now.
I had to sell off most of my gear. I needed to catch an emergency flight at the end of last month and since I’m not working at the moment, I did what I had to do. Didn’t sell off all of it, only the majority of my sound sources; I did keep my Boss DS330 and Yamaha QY100. Tried selling the stuff on FB Marketplace with fair, reasonable prices but go zero traction. Ended up taking it all to the local used MI shop and got royally screwed on all of it, but didn’t really have a choice. So, this is what I’m working from now.
you’re in the right place and you’re not alone. GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) is a real problem amongst people, especially producer nerds, 0-120 years old
You’re telling me lol. Ive done full tear downs to organize cables, they end up spaghetti. I have 27 pieces of equipment that use cables, most at least 3-4 for midi, power, line in…thats over 100 cables easily…its a fucking anxiety nightmare .
The trick is just like the towel, you start head to balls, next day forget that happened…dont ever worry about the balls bro.
Cable mess is why I don’t let me gear wrap around me anymore. I did that for a few years and had to have snakes running across my room. Never again. Unless I can build a second floor and keep all the cables under that.
As long as I have my stuff between me and the spaghetti monster, the spaghetti monster can’t get me.

Thats my foundation. Next move is a Moog One, now that they are discontinued, the race is on. Hopefully next year. I still have 3 inputs left if im creative. Reserved for Moog One, Roland JD-XA, AlphaTheta RMX-IGNITE, and replace the Behringer Crave with a modular case and modules i pick to round out that upper semi-modular area with some full modular modules. That gives me pretty much every style. Modular, poly/mono synths, dj style fx, loopers, samplers, drum machines, pedals for granular already, pretty solid build overall. Every piece has been thought out.
The only one not earning its place is my Roland Verselab right now
Dude, I so hope you get a Moog One. I have had an 8-voice for about 4 years now and it is my favorite piece of music hardware I’ve ever owned. If I won the lottery I’d upgrade to a 16 voice, but I’m honestly very content with 8 given some of the other stuff I have. If you can’t quite swing a 16, don’t feel like you’re missing out picking up an 8, especially with your other gear.
I will say, it took me a few months to really wrap my head around making sounds on it. Maybe a year. Most of the factory patches are ‘meh’ (at least for me). I think I have like 10 of the factory sounds favorited, the rest are all sounds I’ve made in my own preset bank. I’d totally send them to you if you get one to get you started. I end up, surprisingly, doing a lot of 90s VA effects drenched stuff on this thing that you would not expect to be coming from a synth that looks like this. But it’s where I land.
And making good sounds on it is really just scratching the surface because you have the CV ins/outs that can go into the mod matrix. Plus multiple ins and sub-outs for routing external audio through the effects. Which… ok a bunch of them are in mono but most of them are pretty good. I have external effects now because I really wanted to have the best to go with this synth after all this time, but I’ve been happy with the internal effects for a long time.
But yeah dude, 4 years in and I still have not used the CV stuff yet, now getting to a place where that makes sense to control external stomboxes and stuff.
My One directly replaced a Rev2 (which I miss sometimes). And then after getting it I ended up selling an OB-6, Matriarch, and Matrixbrute because I just never used them anymore. So my recommendation would be don’t be afraid to thin your herd a bit if that will make the difference.
I have a strong rule on selling my gear, wont do it. Ive spent a long time meticulously planning my gear and its function. I will only snag a 16 voice. My sub 37 is prepping me for the moog one in its own ways. Ive been studying it quite a bit and how it interacts. If I didnt have this current medical shit going on and back to work, id be on my way. I will work good OT when im back and snag it next year barring anymore setbacks. Until then I stay the course and keep trying to build my custom OS in TouchDesigner and get some live streams going of performances. Im 100 percent locked on to getting one
