I usually pay all 6 months at once to get the cheapest rate. I pay around $250 for all six months, but it’s liability only. It skyrockets if I get comprehensive, and I figure I’ll be able to save the money I save from not spending like $150 a month to pay for any repairs, or a new car if needed.

I really don’t drive too much anyway. The only time I drive more than 3 miles is when I go to Colorado or to Cheyenne to shop or visit friends and family.

I use Geico now, but before that I was with Progressive. I changed because they kept raising my rates tho. One of their things is they reduce your rate as long as you’re accident free. Now, my driving history isn’t perfect, and it would go up if I get a speeding ticket, which I would expect, but then they would continue to raise my rates every time I renewed, even if I didn’t have a new infraction. It got to the point where they wanted $1200 to renew, and it really kinda miffed me because my insurance agent was this lady I knew from when I was a kid, and she worked at this nice pizza place we’d go to all the time (Windy City).

She was now an insurance agent, and I actually only got insurance through her because my dad ran into her and found out she was doing insurance, but I would tell her, “this is crazy I literally work at McDonalds, I need a lower rate” (FYI I no longer work at McDonald’s), but she would just say, “yeah, insurance is always going up”, and I’m just like, “no, this isn’t inflation this is crazy I can’t pay this”. She didn’t seem to understand what McDonald’s is maybe.

Anyhow, I finally just went elsewhere and quoted a MUCH lower rate so I went with Geico.

My mind boggles!! I barely pay anything for anything (besides rent). How have I acheived whatever the hell it is I’ve achieved???

I gave a music friend 15 bucks tonight. She’s a sensitive soul and is fucking HARD to be friends with. I have no idea what she’s dealing with right now. I bought an Easter basket for 8 bucks to leave on friends’ porch on Sunday morning.

Talked to a local guy friend over the phone. Some of us are financially fucked for the time being. My landlords promise me that they won’t kick me out.

Banged out a really eclectic techno mix but had the web cam mic selected instead of my interface.

Started try and recreate it tonight but gave up three tracks in. Will try again tomorrow but its hard to capture that ad lib feel.

Do you not have a phone? Health insurance? What about gas money? Vehicle repairs? Clothing?

I try to put my money (after rent, insurance, food and all) into my car. I like to keep up on most of the maintenance for it, although there’s a couple things I have been needing to check out. A couple winters ago, it was really cold out and the dash airflow dial was a little difficult to move, and I kinda forced it, and ever since then somethings up with it and it doesn’t go all the way to the left or right, and it doesn’t seem to be going to the place that the dial indicates.

If I attempt to put it all the way left to defrost, it won’t go into the defrost position, only the feet/defrost. And on the other side, it won’t go all the way to the dash setting. But nevermind that, because wherever it actually is, it always seem to kinda come out a bit from everywhere, regardless of the setting. The heat still works, you just can’t really direct it where you want. It’s not a critical thing as the engine still runs and so I haven’t had it checked out. I wanted to check it out myself, maybe I’ll try to do that someday here as it gets warmer.

The other issue, is freaking Grease Monkey did sloppy work on my car one time I took it in for a bunch of stuff (I spent WAY more money than I really wanted to, but I was hesitant to do some of it myself but just having it done was worth the peace of mind). I had a coolant flush, front/rear diff fluid replaced, an oil change, a bunch of stuff. But when they were doing it, they did something, I don’t know if they spilt something somewhere in the engine bay, but now after I run it for a while it sometimes smokes from underneath the hood and smells like burnt oil or something.

I tried cleaning out the engine area in one of those manual car washes, but it still does it. Freakin’ Grease Monkey. It seems to run fine, but it smells and when it’s smoking kinda looks bad (it’s not like a LOT, but just enough to notice something coming out from under the hood).

Oh, and I think I do need a new part (I forget what it was), cuz my engine light has been on for quite a while and disables the cruise control. Fuel sensor I think? The engine error is a minor exhaust system leak, or something like that, which I was told usually is the fuel cap but I always make sure it’s nice and tight. Something’s weird with it. Oh, and I quess I do have some electric issues with it.

OK, so maybe I’ve neglected some parts of it. The smell and heater are tolerable. The cruise control I should probably take it in tho. Then next I need to clean out the engine by someone. Then, I need to dig into the heating system.

So far in Wyoming we’ve been pretty lucky with relatively low COVID cases. Wyoming is pretty socially isolated as it is, with a population of about 579,000. I just looked up the population of Colorado (where I grew up and moved from 5 years ago), which is about 5.7 million. So essentially there’s 1 person for every 10 people in Colorado. That’s weird to think about.

We’re at 237 cases so far, with no deaths (http://www.uwbrandingiron.com/2020/04/10/covid-19-wyoming-interactive-map/?fbclid=IwAR2dzBKTw6H1HpMKc4IcYoUMjbYDXuje5FMYj9EtImnu4_0Z8F27VoFDdtw_. We have no stay-at-home order in place, but most places accessible by the public are closed. I interact with like 4-5 people throughout the day when I’m working. The grocery store I go to recently installed divider windows on their checkout lines, and they all work with gloves on. Burger King started making you put your card or cash in a little pan which they take off to process. I don’t really get why because they’re already wearing gloves, and presumably they’re going to have to touch the cash or cards eventually anyway. So that’s a little weird.

I have run out of weed, and am concerned as to where to find more. lol

Get ready, it’s gonna get weird.

Yeah, I have stuff. I guess I was thinking about people who pay a bunch for internet and cable. And don’t mention my car! :stuck_out_tongue: Great gas mileage, but when I visited Moab in November it put me in a financial hole because of car trouble. I was digging my way out of it right before everything went tits up.

I don’t have any form of TV besides my actual TV which I use for various things. Health wise I’m okay. Pay 30 bucks every couple months for an inhaler. No car payments, etc.

A friend just told me she is living paycheck to paycheck (mother of two, out of work husband) I’m giving her 50 bucks tomorrow, because I owe her.

Oh, and my street (and this town in general) is SWARMING with people I’ve never seen before. Who are these nice people? What do they do for a living? Meanwhile the regulars are staying inside. New dog walkers, zero former dog walkers.

Hey, that’s ok tho. I probably could get by with a lot less, I’m kinda spoiled eating out, buying music and other things that probably aren’t strictly necessities, but I guess I have a degree of stuff that while aren’t critical needs (food, clothing), are things that just keep me of sound mind lol a new game here and there, an upgrade for my computer, a new piece of gear maybe as a big purchase once a year or two.

I have friends that get by with very little, I’ve had friends who got by working only part time jobs, and I have no idea how they did it. As much as I’d like to be a die hard minimalist, I can’t get away from wanting a new audio tool or a nicer TV, a new GPU, a new chair. I like to keep things fresh, it helps keep my sanity in check lol

After this Saturday blunt I rolled for mixing records later Im going to try and slow the weed way down.

Though again being awake at like 3am watching stupid tv feels like the moat normal part of the day. A bowl makes that better lol.

I quit smoking weed normally years ago. It was fucking crazy. I made my mom cry. I USED TO BE a social smoker up until the pandemic hit.

I called up an old flame in Japan. She’s so cool and hot and down to earth. She wants me to save up, so I can go live with her. So very kind, and a wonderful person to talk to. We renewed our promise to go on a date someday, but we’ve been saying that for years. We are a hotass couple, and we’ve been told. I still can’t believe I speak Japanese (reading is mostly shit these days).

Got an oil change and got 50 bucks to a friend facing hard times. Gotta get an easter basket delivered tomorrow morning.

From the outside looking in, Japan is pretty baller. I mean, I’m sure people feel the same way about a lot of places, but I think I dig it. I remember there was a guy I knew in highschool who’s dream was to learn Japanese and move there. Dropped off the face of the earth, heard from him last year and hot damn he did it. I’m happy for him.

Japan’s nuts, but I really miss it. I Iove getting around and visiting the red light district and being hassled by guys trying to get me to fuck Korean girls.

I got some good weed stories over there, too (shit will get you five years in prison if caught).

The place looks like Blade Runner. It’s awesome.

Just told this girl we need to video chat next time. She may have sent me sexy pics before . :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Also, my favorite Japanese comedian died from fucking covid. The guy was a legend.

Insurance co. In my history, tend to grab you low and go up constantly. Wrecks or no…

You almost have to re-buy, at least in my experience. My wife and I joined the same plan and we’ve been fine for a bit but I don’t expect if to stay lower.

Hey my man, I’m sure you and steed chat a bit, due to your history there. I will say, I loved seeing videos or notes from there, when you posted.

I lost track of the forum for a bit and saw you were back in the States. Shit happens. Hopefully you can get happier here, in the lower of times. Apologies, and I don’t want to assume, but I imagine worldwide parenting is rough.

Head up my guy.

Finally felt like I had a good day today. Slept in stupid late, sat around and listened to the podcast of my favorite afternoon talk radio show, then got blunted and recorded a really cool mix I’m actually kinda stoked on.
