BB127 Eh...I don't know

#1

…or do I? That is the question we should ask. ;] (April Fools)

In this battle, I would like for you to make a tune that is glitchy! Using the samples within the battle pack that will be created. If you have hardware to use alongside your DAW’s feel free to use them as well using the samples provided.

While this is considered an open genre beat battle, you’re free to explore whatever you want as long as you get some glitchiness into the track.

Start Date: 10 am EST April 1st, 2021
End of entry window/Voting starts: 10am EST - April 11th-13th, 2021
Voting Ends/Winner prepares next battle: 10am EST April 14th 2021 (or TBA)

(End date may vary depending on the number of entries!)

Rules:

  1. Length over 2 minutes to 2.5 minutes (aka 2:30sec) (unfinished or WIP welcomed )
  2. Use of samples in track to create fun glitchy sounds.
  3. Use at least 3 of the stems provided.
  4. Have fun, don’t overthink it, just make a beat!

For this battle, if you want to use your own samples, then feel free but you will need to choose five samples from the pack in order to do so though.

Samples will be placed here: 127 Battle Pack

Let me know if it’s locked and I will unlock it. Even though I am an android my neural circuits do malfunction from time to time. ;]

Beat Battle General Rules:

Beat Battles take place over the course of two weeks. For the first ten days, users will have to arrange, upload, and post their track to this forum. After this, the next three days users, anyone from the idmforums, cast their votes for their favorite track. At the end of this, the winner will be announced, and they will then become the next Beat Battle host and will have one day to construct a battle pack and begin the next Beat Battle.

Unless otherwise stated, the only sample/audio sources you may use for your song must come from the battle pack.

In the event of a tie, the battle host will decide the winner.

Ps: All skill levels welcome. Feel free to leave a blurb of feedback to the submitters. Please keep feedback constructive and don’t be rude to each other.

@relic @7asid @amongthestars The beat battle will take place tomorrow or Thursday in case you guys want to get in on this as well. Let me know if anything is amiss in my main post. I will put up the battle pack later tonight. I’m unsure of who else would like to join, but it wouldn’t hurt if you could help me in trying to find others who might be interested in this as well.

#3

Yep, I am down. I’ll defo just be doing the majority of this in a hardware sampler. edit: I made an announcement on the Discord with a link so hopefully a few people will show from that : )

#4

@relic thank you!

#5

I shared on our Facebook page, let’s see if we can get a bit of traction

#6

Cool! Thanks! @Auto-meh-geddon

#7

Also, @Soundbyte_DJ mind if I change the title to something like Fun with Glitches, might make it a bit more appealing : )

#8

@relic I meant it as an April fools type thing. I do like humor… :] All they’d really need to do is click the link and figure out the joke.

#9

Battle Pack is up now for those wanting to hear the samples in order to get a feel for them. @relic @amongthestars @Auto-meh-geddon and anyone else interested.

#10

Downloading the samples now, I got lots on my plate at the moment, but I might give this a try, depending on the samples too.

#11

Wow you’re getting support all over the place for this bb! :+1:t5:

here’s a quick throw together after 2hrs or so:

#12

Honestly I didn’t initially get what you did there lmao. Very good :joy:

#13

No problem @relic I figured you were confused as to why I made it the way I did. ;]

#14

Wow! You are quick! @TvMcC And yes it’s not really a beat battle if only one person joins in. ;]

#15

Looks like a lot of fun! Can’t wait to see what I can do with this.

#16

yea, the sample pack is interesting, some of the samples gave me some immediate ideas and have me asking the question can dub (not dubstep) and glitch music be combined?

#17

I don’t see why not. If there is glitchiness in it that is all that matters to me. ;] @relic

Can’t wait to hear what you can do @amongthestars :]

A really great first battle. Fun stems that I was able to use easily and modify. REAPER (my DAW) has an excellent stock “glitch generator” and you’ll find it used a lot on here. Hope you enjoy!

Here it is:

I will try to count myself in.
Good luck everyone, have fun.

I did not like the samples, used none

Here is something I created. I might not be able to participate as a battler, but I still can put up something for the fun of it.

I also updated the track today and added a new synth and clap fx to even up the rim shot hits as well as some more glitchiness to the synth.
