Beat Battle General Rules:

Beat Battles take place over the course of two weeks. The first ten days users will have to arrange, upload, and post their track to this forum. After this, the next three days users cast their votes for their favorite track. At the end of this, the winner will be announced, and they will then become the next Beat Battle host, and will have one day to construct a battle pack and begin the next Beat Battle.

Unless otherwise stated, the only sample/audio sources you may use for your song must come from the battle pack.

In the event of a tie, the battle host will decide the winner

**** in the event of winning the battle, the winner of the beat battle will be asked to make their track available for archive and also to hold onto to the project file of said “winning” track for in the event that it is to be considered for a best of the beat battles release ****

Was going to try and jump into this (a little last minute, but maybe a fun challenge with such a tight time constraint) last night. I’m having an issue withe the samples from both @7asid’s and @IO_Madness’ sample packs. My computer does not seem to be able to recognize the WAV files (I am aware that there are wav.repeaks files in some of the packs, these are not the files I’m talking about just to answer that question before it is asked.).

Just wondering if anyone had any similar issues, or if i’m just being an idiot and missed something simple.
I’m using a Macbook Pro with mac OS Catalina. Neither the system media players nor Logic Pro X want to play nice with the files. The files from @TvMcC’s sample pack seem to work just fine.

If there is no immediate fix, I’ll just have to wait until the next BB. :spider:

@Guy_Wachtel - Hey there, so sorry to hear that you are having this frustrating, and yet annoying issue! Are you unable to open them in logic, or have you tried using something like Audactiy to see if it might be logic?

Also make sure that Logic is recognizing these as 48k might help. I recorded some parts directly into Logic, and had to re-dub parts in logic which may be why you are able to access my folders.

If you are unable to get it sorted out, let me know, and I’ll gladly rebounce the others folders for you.

Oh btw, don’t worry about time, it can be altered in many ways! Usually, people speak up, and bb’s get extended…not all the time, but hey we are all humans, excpet that @relic thing… so no worries

I’m going to BBQ all of your souls and feed them to Cerberus.

@Guy_Wachtel did you extract the 7z to your local drive? Did you download the pack from the Dropbox link or the archive link? What error do you receive?

No Worries! I feel like you don’t have anything to be sorry about, these things happen. I seems that the issue might be with the WAV files themselves, I have tried the following:

  • Restarting my computer and programs
  • re-downloading and re-extracting
  • Logic Pro X
  • Apple music app (itunes)
  • Quicktime Media player
  • Audacity

This is happening with your pack, I import the sounds and it tells me there is a discrepancy with the sample rate, and asks how I want to fix it, no issues there, thats normal behavior and it works. The other packs just give me an error telling me that logic doesn’t understand what the file is. no nothing aside from that.

Downloaded from dropbox link above directly to my documents folder and extracted to my documents before moving the extracted folder to my sample folder that is nested within my documents. The error varies from program to program. Here’s a couple examples:

  • Audacity: Audacity did not recognize the type of the file ‘/Users/guywachtel/Documents/~Samples/IDMF/BB112/7asid/C-D octave delay.wav’. Try installing FFmpeg. For uncompressed files, also try File > Import > Raw Data. (Importing using the method described in the error produces only static noise)

  • Logic: Logic Pro X can’t recognize file “C-D octave delay.wav”. Please ensure that the file properties are correct and that it is a supported file type.

@Guy_Wachtel Try renaming one to a .aif file, see if it that’s works.

Tried changing name to .aif, no changes.

Using Catalina 10.15.5 on a 2017 macbook pro

@IO_Madness I also tried a few online conversion tools to various formats, with no success.

I’m wondering if there’s something with the Catalina update that may be affecting this. Catalina as I’ve read has been a particularly troublesome update for multimedia…

exploring solutions

I’ll hop on my windows machine to see if maybe I can find a work around. I’ll post if I find any fixes.

I knew i shouldn’t have updated… my gut said no and I didn’t listen… fuckin’ a… haha!

Alright, I’ve gone through and converted all the samples to .aif format. I’ll upload it in a minute.

@Guy_Wachtel try this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/obpjn9xqon1qbi2/BB112_aif.7z?dl=0
