This is a great list. I especially like @dj0xygen’s Positive Energy.
You’ve inspired me to name some now. I won’t name any from the already released retrospectives as I feel like they’re a given.
@RFJ - Contemplation (from IDMf043 of Story Book and Sound). His whole EP is fucking awesome, but I’m particularly fond of this track. It says a lot.
Morpion - Peaked (from IDMf035 This is Good Tea). Morpion has such an immense range in his tracks. He does a lot of DNB now but his older IDMf stuff really had a lot of congruencies within the tracks. Dreamy like nature.
Bloshevik Rave Party - Edit (Padlock remix) (from IDMf029 Barely Legal) - This track is just mental. Venitian Snares, Igorr and some Flashbulb, eat your heart out.
Silent Strangers - Stae Cis (from IDMf013 Anagram1: Dither) - Autechre vibes
Ibunshi - Sipher (from IDMf003 Mind Tree) Does a lot with a little.
Carl Sagans Ghost - Especially for them (Part 1) (from IDMf010 Between the Silence and the Story) A great abmient track akin to Brian Eno’s work. I’d love to hear the part 2 to this. It was never released on this label.
Halogen - Length & Brecht (Synaecide Remix) (from IDMf004) - Original track is beautiful, but Syn’s remix is such a musical feat of beauty in itself.
AEtheros x city at worlds end - Xeno Lab 2122 (from IDMf056) - Such an awesome collab. Wish we would get @Erysys back! @nose when you gunna sub a new track
Phobik - Pressure Switch (from IDMf009 Minimal/DeepHouse comp and IDMf068 Retro Vol 2. for remastered version) Alright I said I wouldn’t name any of these but tbh I don’t listen to 4-to-the-floor music in general, but this track fucking slaps.
I feel like this short list covers a lot of ground in terms of how much range the label has just within the IDM realm.
There are honestly sooooo many off the hook tracks in the IDMf discog. I have been through it all from start to finish a few times now and it’s worth it. Look, there are some not so great tracks too, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows let’s be fuckin honest here, but if you’re looking for new IDM that you haven’t heard before I can’t recommend this catalog enough.
