Vox Pop on Pop Vox

Hi, Community. Good day to all.

When I produce I seem to come unstuck when sourcing vocals. Where do you get hold of decent, free vocal samples or vocal effects? I can’t sing to save my life, I’ve tried resampling AI text to speech and using free AI vocal isolators with some success. Genre is melodic techno/ambient; financial status is skint. I don’t know any friends that can sing and I don’t have access to Autotune or any other paid vocal generative services.

If anyone has any suggestions, or has found a novel approach to this, then I’d be very interested to know.

Thanks,

Carl.

Pretty much anything is better than AI due to the insane amount of artifacts (unless you’re deaf to them like some people genuinely are, and in that case carry on).

I’d suggest either freesound, sample packs, or something of that variety with loose restrictions if you can’t get someone to do it. Melodyne, Autotune, Spleeter and Izotope Rx can also fix pretty much anything. Demo periods are your friend on a budget

Also, never rule out the IMGXXXX trick if you want a real challenge match

I’m actually collaborating with someone right now and the AI vocals they decided to use are so horrible that I’m genuinely considering just redoing them myself. People who can’t hear the malarkey in between the words have no soul, that’s what I’ve decided

Many thanks.

Didn’t know about Freesound but it looks like a prolific hunting ground. I’m sure there’s something useful buried in there.

If you can’t find anything on Freesound, try SampleFocus, too.
It’s not as free (you get a set monthly credit bank to spend,) but it’s still got a bunch of good stuff on it.

Hi,

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll check it out.

Appreciate it. SampleFocus is new to me. :+1:
