What’s this, 2018?
I have the Dreadbox abyss and a Dreadbox Omikron Eurorack module and a few DIY modules (Antiphon, lil Erebus & Dysphonia)
I think they sound Great, but I find it annoying that Dreadbox penny pinch really badly in their synths component wise yet people on forums who have no idea what they are talking about always say they are top quality.

“This Thursday we’ll be releasing the latest S2400 OS update. A huge amount of work has gone into this one and we can’t wait to show it to you. At 3.45pm EDT we’ll be releasing the new OS and simultaneously broadcasting a video of new features followed by a one hour ‘ask us anything’ livestream”
anyone play with the Modal Skulpt? Looks interesting and it’s super cheap. I’d have to use either my laptop or one of my Win10 desktops for the editor since it’s only supported on Win8+ but even still it looks like a nice machine for Electro strings and stuff instead of trying to find a sane-ly priced Nova or A-Station.
I have an OG Kickstarter one. The SE has an updated interface from my understanding but they will still play voice chain together if you decide to use one or the other to add voices (I think it’s a max of 4 SKULPTs for 16 voices).
It’s a cool little synth, the filter is, well, it’s a filter, but nothing super-spectacular or special.
The knobs feel cheap as shit. Modal will defend this on YouTube that they use quality knobs, and while I’m sure they are fine, the point is they feel f’ing cheap. Wiggly. They turn with little friction, which is fine, but they wiggle when you use them. I don’t know if it’s how they are mounted or what. Just something to bear in mind as far as impressions go. They work fine.
Hell mine was $300 and at first the SE was $200 iirc XD $300 is too much, it certainly feels more like a $200 instrument.
On this clip the SKULPT is doing the syncopated 5ths chord thing:
I think it sounds fairly “electro” I guess?
MiniBrute 2S on the “liquid bass”
K-2 on the slow bleepy bloops
Wasp on the spacey thing
SKULPT on the chords
Maschine+ on drums
I think the Jam Station is still configured for this song. I should revisit it and try to finish it…
Nice jam, I like that as opposed to some hardware jams this has a melody.
And sounds are cool too.
The Sam Ash around the way from me has several of them for $200 each, but they didn’t have a demo version for me to check out. Figured $200 can’t hurt, unless it’s utter garbage.
There’s really not anything in its price/size range with so many controls. I don’t really mess with its sequencer since its essentially always near another sequencer. I really want to take it to the pond nearby with my Model:Cycles or Maschine+
I have an option on the table of buying a second one to toss behind the rack as another 4 voices. 4 more voices for $200 or less depending on used prices or sales sounds like a good deal to me.
Thanks. Pretty much everything was recorded into the Maschine+ sequencer in real time except for the MiniBrute 2S; Maschine+ just transposes its sequencer (which is a fantastic ability to have; thanks Arturia!). I posted this a while back, but couldn’t remember where it was; I mostly just wanted to show @misterjones313 the sound of a SKULPT “in the wild” lol
That “triplet over two beats” thing near the end, from the K-2, was a complete accident; I had left the sequencer in record while it was playing and just hit some notes while messing around Bob Ross’ ghost came to me and insisted I keep it, I don’t make the rules.
Diggin’ it!
That’s one thing the Mpc lacks, a simple way to transpose sequences…
I know it could take up a track/pad in the pattern but could you re-pitch it and resample? It wouldn’t be ideal on any sampler I’ve used.
It is weird to me that so many sequencers/samplers seem to lack this feature.
If memory serves me, and I’d have to go back to the manual to double-check, my MPC500 can at least transpose patterns. I believe I breezed over that functionality going through the manual.
The Minibrute 2S listens to incoming MIDI while the sequencer is running, and if it receives notes, it transposes the sequencer up or down accordingly. It made trying to do stuff live a LOT easier because I was triggering the transposing on its own pads for a while; it frees me to do other things, now, while keeping a little interest in the pattern.
so I just got the cover for my Nektar PACER from Digital Deck Covers. I’ll probably never purchase from them again lol. $45 after shipping and it’s not much better protection than a fucking towel as far as thickness goes (and some towels will be a lot better). It was $28 and +$5.50 for the “quilted double-sided nylon” option.
Doubled-sided quilted nylon from their site:
Looks kinda “cushy” to me. The actual product does not feel that cushy or protective. Maybe I was expecting too much. I guess it will do the job of keeping my feet from mauling it while it’s under my desk.
There’s no cutout for the back, either, where a ton of cables go in. There’s a flap that sits on top of the cable which was unexpected, and the fitment is just really loose. I highly doubt I will be getting their TD-3/RD-6 cover. I guess to be fair there isn’t a lot of leeway on a cover for something like this. It’s very low, shallow angle, etc. I may try and sew some elastic straps on it to better secure it to the PACER. Kinda disappointed tbh, if you can’t tell, lol…
“This ultra premium fabric has even more padding, and features a quilted satin nylon fabric on both sides, double-stuffed with polyester insulation in-between, giving you the ultimate in protection for your equipment. The interior of this fabric is also very gentle on surfaces!”
Double stuffed with what, paper!? XD
I can transpose a pattern but it isn’t a real time function like it was on older Roland groovebox Ed for example
ah, ok, you meant in real-time. Yeah I don’t think it’ll do that.
I might fuss about things, but I’ll be damned if I’m not resourceful lol. Remembered my yoga blocks
And I gained storage for pedals, too, so I’m not constantly kicking them.
and changed my mind lol. Mistakes happen, but screw this company after all the rest… XD
I found this when looking for a place to add the elastic. If anyone looked over this thing at all, imo, it should have been spotted o.O We all make mistakes, though. I’ll see how they want to handle it… or likely just fix it myself and probably avoid them
Those are not yoga blocks, but ‘prayer blocks’ (not sure they have a name apart from bricks). When being punished to kneel on rice and pray, you would put these blocks under the calves to increase the pressure of rice on knee caps and make it worse.
I understand not discussing our fetishes on a thread dedicated to a completely different fetish, but at least don’t take us for fools.
