When I was in high school we had an AWESOME alt rock station 107.9 The End. They switched formats to hip hop and rnb. During their last 24 hours they played REM’s The End of The World as We Know It for all 24 hours with no commercials, literally on a loop.
My friends and I drove around in a shitty car, smoking shitty weed and screaming the lyrics to the song for hours and hours. It is one of my fondest memories of high school. Pure, pointless angst. Feeling those vibes today.
That’s too much of that song at once. Also, the world is definitely changing but not ending, not yet I don’t think. The political situation of jerks being in charge and people fearing sickness happens every now and again doesn’t it… The end as we know it, maybe, and hopefully we’ll emerge with new insight into how we can all help each other in the future.
Hahahaha. I probably couldn’t listen to it more than twice now. And to clarify: I was just posting this and my memory to be cheeky. I’m right in the middle on this, being cautious but not panicking.
