For sure.
I really hope it’s good, but I’m also kinda not holding my breath, just hoping.
I know, I’m a downer. lol

It will be awesome movie!
I just hope a whole bunch of people in this film die in really, really horrible ways and that the sound editing is good THIS IS ALL I ASK
The best part about Star Wars: Rogue One was that EVERYONE DIES
It’s the first Alien film since like 97’ without Scott heading the direction so that’s a good thing in my mind. Covenant set the bar low. Reeeeal low lol.
I liked that part where all the people on the planet got wiped out though
I liked Covenant.
Yeah me too man!
I like the first three Alien movies fairly equally (Alien 3 Assembly Cut, that is). They take up the same sort of opinion/space in my brain, and after those I’d rank Covenant next best. It sucks that there wasn’t any Giger stuff, and I think there’s some weird decisions made directing wise, but I really like the gothic and mean-spirited tone. Something I thought was missing since 1992. And I thought it was the only movie since the first (and Prometheus to a small degree) that had any sort of psychosexual themes.
My headcannon is that Prometheus and Covenant take place after the other movies, though. Prometheus still feels like it was written and directed by an actual alien with no concept of human interaction.
I can definitely respect the change of direction and application of fantasy that Prometheus (which I actually like) and Covenant (my most hated) had. They’re unique if all else.
Respect the difference of opinions as well, but Ridley’s Frankenstein obsession and creationist angle just didn’t do it for me. A rogue synthetic with daddy issues wanting to play god just wasn’t it for me.
I’ll always say the films are incredibly beautifully well shot though. Ridley is a great world builder but relies heavily on a good screenplay.
Also
I blame Damon Lindleof entirely. Fucker has a reverse Midas touch. He sucks
I haven’t watched this yet (wanna watch it on my TV, but keep forgetting about it). Animated fan film many years in the making:
It was fine. Looking forward to watching it again on my TV that looks better than the shitty local theater.
My ranking:
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien Covenant
Alien Romulus
Prometheus
Alien Resurrection
Saw it last night too. I think “fine” is a good description. I have a lot of gripes, the last major scene was pretty meh, and there was a fair amount of plot armor happening i think with the main character. Lot’s of really unusual decisions, such as a certain CGI that plagued me for almost the entire movie.
To me it felt less like faithful adaptation and more just like a weird amalgam of fan-service.
There were plenty of things that i liked, I just like to nitpick.
It’s definitely a studio movie. I was pretty excited, but tempered my expectations after word was getting around.
I spoiled some of the movie for myself once I heard that it wasn’t amazing, which I’m glad I did. I would have been really disappointed if i had just gone off the first two trailers.
My theater had it out of focus, and the PQ sucks there especially since this is a dark lit movie. I was gonna go out of town to a better theater, but decided to just watch it this morning since I didn’t think it was gonna be worth the drive.
I didn’t hate it. It looks nice, from what I could see. Andy was a great character. Didn’t like the other synthetic in the movie. Very unnecessary. Those callback lines sucked though. It was an okay creature feature. I’ve long come to terms that I’m never gonna get my fucked up Giger movie.
Also I just consider this movie to take place after the others, since otherwise it’s opens up way too many questions.
Yeah, Andy was a great character, and I think the actor did such a phenomenal job. The rest didn’t really get fleshed out, and a few I just hated.
Yes, that is by far my biggest gripe with the whole thing. Like…why? who thought that was a good idea… and it looked terrible.
Romulus was a solid 7.5/10 for me. Good movie, not great.
WAY too much fan service to a detrimental level. Alvarez had a great original set up and kind of tossed it away in favor of the fan service. Quality character set up but once the rollercoaster started there wasn’t any time for the film to breathe and hook in the atmosphere.
Overall I’m satisfied, and I think it was a much needed course correction from the prequel films (sorry Vlantis <3)
I wouldn’t be jumping to give it a re-watch, but I definitely had a good time with it.
Now lets hope the Alien series can deliver…
Oscar for best sound editing.
Resurrection was such a crap movie, it fills that bad-good space for me. No franchise is complete without the outstanding turd, and Resurrection is a turd that can’t be flushed. It is cartoonish and I can’t take it seriously.
alien rez rules and ages better and better the older it gets. It was a stinker when it came out, for sure.
also after seeing Romulus I think:
this guy deserves an apology
