Speedcomp

A buddy of mine hosts a 30 minute speedcomp.

Samples for the comp drop in less than 12 hours.

Here is the facebook post about it. But if you dont have Fb here are the details:

SPEEDCOMP 57 - Make a track in only 30 minutes using the ten samples provided for download on the event page on the night.
Any audio software is welcome to use to make your song. Make anything you like - no genres or approaches are out of bounds.

Maximum length of your track needs to be 4 minutes.

After 30 minutes please stop arranging your Speedcomp entry and listen back for a rough mixdown and render. There is no point using more than 30 minutes as this exists to see what one can do with a strict deadline to finalise a musical composition. There are no winners in Speedcomp.

ONLY USE THE 10 SAMPLES OFFERED IN THE SAMPLE PACK.

Upload your effort to your Soundcloud or other site, or if you’d like it put onto the Speedcomp Soundcloud, email entries to
speedcompentry@gmail.com

If posting a link to your track, approval is sometimes required despite settings to the contrary, so patience may be required before it appears on this page.

IF UPLOADING TO SOUNDCLOUD, PLEASE MAKE YOUR TRACK DOWNLOADABLE.

The selector for Speedcomp 57 is The Massacre from Switzerland.

The ten chosen samples will be published at 7:30pm AEST on Friday 27th September 2024 on this page and on the Breakcore Australia forum.

You have 24 hours to have your track played on Thematics Radio’s Speedcomp Special, which will be recorded at SCHQ the night after.

You don’t have to be awake or home at the time the samples are dropped, so feel free to make your track anytime over the next 24 hours to get on the show. Recording of SC57 will be published in the following weeks.

Hardware allowed? Like a single sampler?

Dang, if I weren’t going through a hurricane right now I’d give it a go (still have power at the moment, but that can change anytime).

Seems cool as a challenge idea regardless, though. I’d love to do some kind of beat battle edition or variation of the concept at least

Is there a direct link to the pack for those of us who don’t have Facespace? Sorry if I missed it the first time around
