Howdy y’all, Its Qianta/End Quote here, its been a minute since I’ve visited IDMForums.
I promise this is not an ad, I won’t mention the name of my project, but I’m interested in hearing what y’all think.
My business partner and I created an app where users can create ‘sessions’, a place where you can register/clock-in whenever you are in the studio with other artist, songwriters, engineers. Its a very simple idea, you ‘create a new session’, everybody ‘joins’ the session, then you get a list of all the collaborators in the studio, and as soon as you click ‘start session’, everybody is ‘locked in’ the studio. Once y’all are done with the session, you guys can upload the master file (or whatever ‘progress’ y’all have), and then ‘finalize the session’. At this point, y’all can agree to some ‘royalty share’ (writers and publishers) and then ‘lock that in to’. This is helpful because, in many cases (I’m basing this on what people have told me), people do not agree to anything “in the moment” and weeks/months later its the same old “hey did I say 5% or 20%?” or “hey I said 20% and you’re giving me 10% wtf!!”. We also provide users a way to generate a split sheet at the end (that is, an ‘official’ document describing what they have agreed to) and send them off to everyone so they can sign and then proceed from there (publish to PRO etc.) We also have ‘workspaces’, like a server on discord, where you can see all the sessions in one place.
Like any startup, we build so much more, but this is what we are trying to ‘sell’. We had success hosting a songwriting camp at Mr. 305 studios in Miami, and we’re thinking of continuing to hit up record labels and trying to host their camps. This way they don’t have to ‘chase their artists’ for split sheets and %'s royalties and stuff, everything is in one place.
We’re at a place where even though we had success there, we’re kind of stuck trying to figure out how to get investors/users interested.
I’m hoping some of you might have some insight, but I think this message is long enough, but please reply if more info is needed… I really appreciate y’alls feedback! ![]()
