To me the coroner’s report was actually a bit of a relief. Having watched some recent interviews with Mr. Flint right up until his death, suicide made no sense to me at all.
Dying as the result of an accidental overdose, on the other hand, is something I’d almost expect from someone with his lifestyle. It would at least cross my mind, anyway. It seems to fit.
And it won’t burden the recordings with tragedy like a suicide would.
Listening to Nirvana is fine, but the knowledge, that the singer shot himself in the head later, is always there, like a dark shadow as you listen. Suicide sucks like that.
