At no point would I have guessed what the next sentence would be depending on the previous one in this post. WTF did I just read?
Long story short I was listening to @Manton’s @Jazzyspoon remix which features him playing trumpet and I was a little stoned and mistook it for saxophone, so now it’s a turned into a frequent inside joke

Well, I’ve been thinking more about this and doing some more research on the things you kind people have mentioned. I’ve actually realized that I spend almost all of the time with my headphones on and only check on the speakers from time to time, something I can’t do at night without disturbing the neighbors. I’ve also learned about headphone calibration. After checking out purchasing options here, I’ve found out that a pair of Sennheiser HD 650s on Amazon shipped to Argentina is actually cheaper than buying the Yamaha HS5s here so I’m going for that.
Thanks everybody for the answers and thoughts, I’ll report back once I get them and let you know how they turn out.
Solid!
Bit late in the game here. Somehow I thought this thread was about flat screens ![]()
I’m using Sennheiser HD 598 Cs (Closed Back) that are rather flat to almost bass-less and Audio-Technica ATH-M50xWH Closed-Back that are supposed to be for "Pro-Level Tracking/Mixing and DJing” but are definitely heavier on bass. This way, going from one to the next, I can mix somewhere in the middle.
Of course, I know they should be open-back. I figured that, since I have desktop monitors as well (Edifier MR4 Active Near-Field Monitor Speaker), I would be covered for various options. Still want to buy open-backs at some point in the future, when I can.
As I mentioned before, my hearing is mostly fucked anyway, so I tend to rely more on mix levels than what I hear…
If you can make a device with the functionality of both, let me know ![]()
