Nexus 5 finally a real synth now

I’ve been tempted to pull the trigger on Nexus for years but a rompler did not justify such high prices. Today they released version 5, which is now a full synth. $199 for Black Friday is fair enough so I grabbed it. Putting this here in case someone may be interested.

I never thought I’d see the day! Although, is it a full-fledged synth or just a rompler matrix? The screenshots are a little unclear, almost appearing to just be a layering matrix of sorts, but maybe there are some hidden tabs.

I used to use that ugly white one (2, maybe?) before I learned how to make pads. Kind of hindered me at the time, but it sure was fun

Yep, what’s been frustrating with Nexus is that it’s always sounded great, but the price was ridiculous & being a rompler, there’s not much you could do with it when it came to animated/sequenced sounds.

Speaking of which, one of the new presets called 90’s something is basically a sampled version of Rhythm is a Dancer. It did make me laugh and bob my head at the same time  Those mainstream Euro hits were catchy, you have to give them that.

To answer your question:

It is now a full-fledged Synthesizer plugin with various synthesis options (VA, sampler, time stretcher, wavetable, retro, grain, cloud, and FM) and a fully accessible modular engine.

They mention what they did is basically open the full architecture that was only accessible to devs making soundpacks before.

Like most new synths these days, there are different tabs to access the different engines.
