I’m a little embarrassed to ask such questions, but has anyone paid attention to how the sound is mixed in vertical (Shorts) YouTube videos or how Tik Tok videos sound?
They are not like regular videos. Everything seems to sound from one point and more deeply.
As these are often quick, unproduced videos, I think you’re correct - a mono phone recording at a distance (meaning more natural reverb). In short, they’re not ‘mixed’, they’re just what’s captured by a single mic in a natural setting. I don’t think youtube or tiktok do anything specific to the short videos, it’s just that people often capture those shorts informally, without any production.
