“Otoge” is 音ゲーム and that’s the Japanese word for rhythm games. And this is a secret level of a game called Beatmania IIDX and it’s made by Bemani, the rhythm game division of Konami. They made a ton of games like Beatmania IIDX, Pop’n Music and even Dance Dance Revolution

If you don’t understand Japanese, here’s what kors k’s saying:

(They actually do have a drum rhythm game it’s called Drummania and it’s paired sometimes with Guitar Freaks and those two games actually predate Guitar Hero which is kinda cool)

And this is one of the hardest songs in the game (Difficulties in Guitar Freaks and Drummania go up to 10 and this is a 9.91 I think?)

That kind of precision is amazing. It’s not that the beat is all that complex, but the mental processing, execution and precision of it all blows me away. I could drum along to death metal all day but I don’t think I’d last two seconds with something like this :smiley:

Although most people lose their ability to compete / hang in RTS after the age of 24, so I think someone definitely needs to do a similar loose study on rhythm games to see if that’s also true!

Side note, anyone under the age of ~24 can use their blisteringly-fast mental processing now for stuff like this before it’s too late!
