[IDM/Glitch/Ambient/Downtempo ] Jazzyspoon - Study Habits Vol.2

A follow up to my 2023 release, Study Habits Vol.1.

I meant to release this publicly on Dec 31st, 2025, but life gets in the way. It has been sitting in my private collection all year, so today is the day.

Thanks to @bfk for his sounds on Stems, which is one of the only new tracks on here. Some of these I have been kicking around for more than 20 years.

Thanks for listening, if you get the chance. I am exhausted of working on them. not sure if I’ll put these on streaming, so they will live on Bandcamp for now.

This is a great release! Why dont you release with Glitchpulse ever?? Haha.

In Bandcamp - Did you know that if you make your release free to download, people aren’t able to add the release to their wishlist or catalog. It’s quite literally download and local playback only. In my opinion this makes the music less accessible.

You can still set the release to pay what you want no minimum and this will still give it away fror free but also open the gate for wishlist and adding to BC collections.

Thanks for the tip, Nick! Updated the payment model.

I have thought a lot about releasing here every time I go to put together a collection of tracks. Then I start listening through the catalog here. Honestly, I just don’t think what I am making is up to snuff with the densely talented and creative stuff being released here. Sprinkle a little under confidence with a spoonful of imposter syndrome and I usually just talk myself out of it - the next one will be the one. The last time I officially submitted an album here was 2009 and it was kindly rejected. :joy:

I still have another album in my private collection that I am putting together for a future release. Maybe I will feel that one is worthy.

This is from down the street from me. I thought of you and snapped a pic.

Well, I got to it sooner than expected..started playing it about 4 hours ago and it’s still on repeat..sincerely, this has been added to my favourite albums list.

Funny how life goes..I stumbled back in here today after God knows how long, and one of the first posts I happen upon is to an album that just hits me hard..go figure.

Anyway, thanks again..and I’m really grateful you decided to release this..and, yes, stream it, dude..trust me. :folded_hands:

Jason, you have nothing to feel imposing about. You are one of the most decorated artists on this label! Look, I can’t even fit the amount of releases you’ve been on on one screenshot…

Plus, on the 30th of this month you’ll have another one care of Ed Fokks

Let’s face it, this is a very different place to what it was in 2009.

@A.M Holly hell big welcome back! Hope to see and hear you around more.

Thanks, Nick..yeah, it’s been a while, hasn’t it..life, shit and giggles..the usual. I drifted back a while back with the intention of sticking around, but floated away offline again.

Since then a lot has transpired..too much to get into in this thread..it would be rude to hijack J’s thread..it’s about this outstanding album..and I totally agree with everything you told him. If I hadn’t have read his words about his feelings, I would never have believed it if I’d been told by someone else.

For the record, J, you were and always will be an inspiration to me..and the vibe I’ve always gotten from both you and your music is nothing short of professional and top class. With nothing but the utmost respect, I suggest you don’t listen to that insecure little voice in your head any more..trust me, he don’t know shit!

Just keep doing what you do, man..nobody does it like you..and the way YOU do it is so totally YOU.

Words from the Waterboys song “Whole Of The Moon” come to mind:

"I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hands
I had flashes
But you saw the plan

I wandered out in the world for years
You just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon.."

Trust me, J..you are better and far more appreciated than you obviously think.:+1::heart:

Wow, thanks A.M. for the encouraging/inspiring words. That means a lot. Seriously. And it is good to see you around here again.
And I know. I need to get over my hangups. I will attempt to push these up to streaming services, but I’m still deciding if I should have a third party master them (for streaming) or just push up what i have.

I actually tried to contact you through bandcamp about 6 months ago, as I was wondering if I could throw the “Mutations of my environment” remix collection up to streaming services, but never heard back so i left the idea alone.

I’ll post back here when or if I get my shit together and push this up to cdbaby or make any videos. Again, I can’t thank the both of you enough for your support and encouragement.

FWIW, I think highly of your stuff too. One of the ways I knew I’d “made it” as an artist was when you were happy with your master on 050 after being more so-so about my previous work. Basically, you asked me to step up and I was able to, and that set me on a path to being more involved here right through to the present day.

I can’t confirm this, but based on avatars I’m like 97% sure you steered me here from Reddit in the first place, so I owe almost everything I am as an artist to you nudging me in the right directions over the years.

Anyways, I say that because that’s just my story. Even if it’s only a track here and there, you’ve been around so long that your sound is part of the DNA of this place for sure, in all it’s incarnations. Think that every time we put something out and you’re floored by it. In a small way, I promise you you are a part of that. Never doubt that.

J, it’s been a while back since I was here in any sort of regular way..folks have moved on..new members are no longer new and we’re all that much older. All our lives have changed..for good, for bad..even both. They say to understand someone you need to walk in their shoes.

J, your shoes will never fit me, man..I’ve come to accept my feet will forever be trying to catch up to the big size of yours. At best, I know I can follow in your footsteps.

Regarding the Bandcamp thing..I have no idea what happened there..even though I haven’t visited that Bandcamp account in years I should have gotten an email or something..but never did.

Anyway, please feel free free to use my tracks from that project any way you wish..consider them your tracks..which, when you think about it, they really are in a sense.

Reach out to me any time, dude..send me a PM on here and I’ll get back to you. :+1:

@Jazzyspoon posts a release and gets frickin’ @A.M to show up! This is why this place is the cool secret place you show your friends when you know they’re not assholes.

Purchased and added to my ipod! Nothing to add other than the music sounds lickable as usual. Nice cover art, as well!

I’ve been playing this in my car today as I run around town, and it’s really nice stuff. I went shopping with my mom who’s 75 and kept it on and we had this exchange, which I thought was funny:

Mom - Nice grandma music.

Me - WHAT?! This is my music friend’s new album. This isn’t grandma music!

Mom - I think if I was playing this, you’d say the same thing.

Me - Haha! I gotta tell him you said that.

Then I was giving my sister a ride to a show, and we both thought it was funny and were both like “No way, this is frickin’ makeout music!”

That’s my review! Those first two songs gell together nicely and are my favs. It’s got some underwater vibes. Wanted to post something after giving it a proper listen. Nice work!

Jazzyspoon: Making grandma jams since 2001. :joy:

The Snow Storm is actually inspired by old jazz and Christmas vinyl, so I guess that one could bring that vibe to the table. Thanks for the listen and review, buddy!
