[IDM, Experimental, Abstract, Psychedelic] MicMac - Non-Contest #5 Entry

Hey IDMf!

Excited to share my latest track, “MicMac”, created as my entry for Non-Contest #5. This piece combines IDM, experimental, abstract, and psychedelic vibes, inspired by the theme “microcosm makes macrocosm.” I wanted to explore how small, seemingly disconnected elements can build up and expand into a larger, immersive soundscape.

Each layer has a unique role in shaping the whole, with deconstructed rhythms, evolving textures, and an unpredictable progression that aims to capture that cosmic feeling of connectedness.

This track also marks a new milestone for me. I created my first-ever music video to accompany it! The visuals match the abstract and psychedelic mood of the sound, bringing an extra dimension to the listening experience.

Let me know what you think, and thanks for listening!

Great groove, sound design and mixing.

I checked out the other submissions too, i think yours is the best. I like that you didn’t use a cat sample haha

Well done and thanks for sharing!

Excellent work :+1:t3: that’s a wicked beat going… do you automate the effects and work on a kind of midi stuff like that or is this a performance type of work you recording the live creation here??

Thanks! :metal: The beat is built with a mix of automation and live performance. I sequence most of the elements in MIDI, automating effects like filter sweeps, delays, and distortions to add movement. At the same time, I also record live tweaks on hardware (TD-3, Crave) to keep that raw, unpredictable energy. It’s a blend of structured sequencing and spontaneous sound shaping!

Thanks a lot! :raised_hands: Really appreciate your feedback. I wanted to focus more on the energy and texture rather than going the obvious route with a cat sample haha . Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks! Glad you liked the video! :movie_camera::fire: Definitely, every project is a learning experience, and I’m excited to keep pushing further. Appreciate the support! :raised_hands:
