As we move closer to the release of Icosagon, we’re excited to finally share the artists who will be appearing on the project.
For those who may be new to the story, Icosagon celebrates twenty years of IDMforums. A community that began in 2006 as a place for producers to share experimental electronic music, ideas, and feedback. Over time it became something much more: a long-running ecosystem of collaboration, learning, and creative exploration.
This release attempts to capture a snapshot of that journey.
The response from the community exceeded all expectations.
In total we received around 50 submissions, and the overall quality was extremely high. Narrowing that down to the 27 tracks that appear across the two volumes was genuinely difficult. Many strong tracks simply couldn’t fit.
Because this project is also being released on physical media, track length became one of the practical constraints. Each volume is being pressed as a double LP, which meant we had to consider the runtime limits of vinyl alongside the musical flow of the albums.
Selections were made using a combination of factors including:
• Mix quality
• Arrangement and structure
• Production value
• How engaging the track felt within the sequence
• How well it complemented the overall character of the compilation
We want to sincerely thank everyone who submitted music. The level of creativity and craftsmanship across the submissions was a reminder of what makes this community special.

These artists represent different eras of IDMforums, from long-time contributors to newer members continuing the tradition.
The compilation itself is divided into two volumes:
Volume One explores the more energetic side of the forum, with breakcore, glitch, drum & bass, and rhythm-driven experimentation.
Volume Two moves into more contemplative territory, focusing on downtempo IDM, atmosphere, and emotionally driven electronics.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing previews, artwork, and more details as we approach the release date.
