Hi from Russia!

Hello everyone! My name is Lev and i like music so much. Doing stuff under the Disgmus name for a five year maybe. Favourite genres are IDM, techno, avant-garde metal, ambient, neoclassical, baroque and hyperpop. I’m trying to find inspiration for my music project (i can’t finishing my second electronic album :skull:) and that’s why I came to this forum :upside_down_face:

You’re into avant garde metal? Thats pretty cool. The main band im into that falls into that is Gorguts. Really like the genre but weirdly enough i dont listen to much of it.

Heard that Ad Nauseum is pretty great, but im more into progressive death metal (not a actual genre but it should). Stuff like Demilich and Timeghoul speak to me more.

Ive tried to get into Oranssi Pazuzu, but a lot of black metal just doesn’t make me feel anything.

Another avant garde metal band i like is Disharmonic Orchestra. Their second album, Not To Be Undimensional Conscious, is old enough to be considered Old School DM but sounds absolutely nothing like it. You have to listen to it to get what i mean.

Their third album, Pleasuredome, strays more from death metal and more into just avant garde metal in general. Again, hard to describe. Still a pretty solid album, would reccomend.

One thing discinctive about them is the great and dominant basswork. Its the reason their second album is among my top favorites.

I don’t like Old School metal, but they cool, yeah.
I am more into black metal so i don’t know, what to recommend.
Liturgy - Aesthetica is one of my favourite (especially Generation, Tragic Laurel and Veins of God). Like this guitar sound so much and that strange drum rhythm of all album (like uptempo or i don’t know) That album influenced me so much that I recorded a black metal album in my 16 years (4 years ago yeah)

Hey @Disgmus!

Welcome to the forum! We got some Russians here.

is this you?

Yuggoth in The Fungi from Yuggoth

If so, I like what i hear. Going to listen through tomorrow.

Yeah, that is my ambient album. I made it in 2021. :upside_down_face:
I don’t know why Soundcloud has only that album (Maybe because i don’t have ability to open Sounclaud lol)
Now i do stuff more like my latest album ( Volume I, Recognition ) There more dynamic IDM style and granular ambient noisy textures

I finished one album-collaboration from new years holidays. There will be album on 10 March, but the sound is a little new for me (genre: between Industrial, Noise and Metal)
I do a lot of ambient tracks actually…so maybe this year i will release something like this.

yo whatup @Disgmus welcome! to Russia from California  we need an avant garde metal thread on this forum for sure in the music scene chat. that’s a sound I am only sort of familiar with. I’ll check out your music fasho.

That sounds cool. I’ve been starting a band with my drummer called Rultch. Basically, its a bass drum duo that has weird and technical riffs, while not forgetting to be heavy.
Basically trying to do my own brand of avant-garde death metal

its still pretty early and im currently trying to get a first rehearsal set up, but i did send him material of a song I did and sent him the tabs.
I take my playing mainly from Yowie, at least the frantic noodling and suddenly changing riffs. I can’t do as much noodling since I’m on 5 string bass but I try my best.

wait i read your post wrong, whatever i spent 5 minutes making this post

That’s great! I played avant-garde metal(mostly black and glitch) for 3 years, that’s really great genre. I’m waiting for your album

Demo II will come out sometime this year.

I personally see that new death metal bands rely pretty heavily on their 90’s influences, and I really think people should pull in outside influences more nowadays. Some recent bands have still excelled with semi-influence worship, but still. (also thrash metal is still in the same old school revival that doesn’t really work most of the time.) Black Metal has always been doing its own thing no matter what wave (from what I’ve gathered), so I get it if you don’t fully get it as much as I do.

Personally I’m trying to apply Brutal Prog in a Death Metal sense, mainly the hyper complex ones like the aforementioned Yowie, or maybe even Behold… The Arctopus. Ruins is also a citable influence with the bass drum duo band layout.

Awesome dude. I raised your user profile trust level so you’ll have some more allowances for posting let me know if you have any issues. You should be able to post in the Listening Booth now… if you’re interested in getting some critical feedback on whatever music you’re stuck on.
