Hey everyone! I’m yuna2k, an illustrator and comic artist from Chile.
I originally studied architecture, but over the last few years most of my creative work has shifted toward illustration, comics and music. I’ve also become increasingly absorbed by the underground techno world, influencing a lot of what I make.
Right now I’m working on MVNDY, a comic about a DJ that mixes techno, dreams, and other dimensions. Alongside the comic I’ve been building a small website/archive for the project, and recently started using part of it to showcase music from underground Chilean artists.
I ended up here because I was looking for smaller techno communities outside the usual social media platforms. I’m interested in discovering new music and seeing what everyone is making, but I’m especially interested in the visual aspect of it too — artwork, flyers, comics, weird websites, physical media, etc.
Anyway, happy to be here. Looking forward to digging through the forum and discovering some cool people and stuff
If you’re interested in the visual aspect of things, there’s this Kickstarter that’s about to be reaching its goal. Not techno, but the story of Industrial via album covers, posters, etc. It looks really cool.
Among many classic covers, you’ll find the work of SRG (Steven R Gilmore), who’s designed 90% of the classic Skinny Puppy album covers:
A Visual History of an Unyielding Musical Movement
Industrial Music/Graphics is the first comprehensive visual history of the graphic design language that emerged with, and helped define, industrial music. From postpunk Britain and Cold War Europe to Reagan’s America, industrial music permeated global underground culture.
Across hundreds of album covers, logos, posters, type studies, and ephemera, this book documents how designers and musicians built a visual system as confrontational, experimental, and influential as the music itself.
This is not a nostalgia project. It is a cultural document of an international design movement.
