I grew up mostly in South Africa but I live in Baltimore now. Studied english literature and philosophy in college, big reader and lover of films. I’m a photographer too.
I have the day off today so I’m gonna check out some of the music posted here! This is my first time joining a music forum, I hope to meet some like-minded people and maybe collaborate.
In addition to electronic music I also love jazz, especially Miles, Pharaoh Sanders, and Nala Sinephro.
I just released my first EP a few weeks ago, it’s called Tomorrow’s Trajectory. You can find it on Bandcamp:
I listen to jazz sometimes too, I find I tend to like the latin jazz most, especially Tito Puente.
The forum format can take a bit of getting used to as it can be slower going to get interaction sometimes, but I find it’s well worth keeping this place a part of my life that I check in on regularly.
Welcome! Do you make jazz or electronic mostly? I tend to like the avant-garde or left-field versions of both more than anything, so I can’t wait to check out whatever you’ve got going on whenever you can post links
It might seem slow here as @White_Noise mentioned, but a lot of the time when you start topics you tend to get a lot of engagement still. There be lurkers
Welcome to the forum! Always glad to have new members! I’m also a fan of jazz, though most of the stuff i listen to is more in the realm of jazz fusion of various kinds.
If you head over to the listening booth, there are lots of interesting things people have been making, and everyone always loves getting comments and feedback.
I tend to find the more you give the more you get from this place.
I make electronic, I’m not a jazz musician per se, but I’m working on an album rn which features a jazz saxophonist called Jarrett Gilgore (worth checking out his new project called Phet Phet Phet, not sure it’s left-field enough for you but it’s good!).
As for links to my music, not sure how to do that, when I tried it said they’re not allowed.
I think it’s a post threshold, but more than likely a friendly mod or admin will help you with that since you’re obviously not a spammer. Usually a few posts in the Listening Booth serves as a standard manual workaround, though
Damn, this is really cool. How long have you been making music? I’m genuinely interested in hearing how your musical journey progresses, especially if this is your first EP. Sounds way, way better than a lot of other firsts I’ve heard.
Really glad you signed up here to share it, too. I’m definitely downloading this
