I was thinking about how I missed the old internet days of niche forums and small online communities (and not just reddit), so did a bit of googling and here I am.
Been producing on Ableton for a couple of years now and playing instruments most my life. Just starting to get to the point where I want to start putting myself out there a bit more and maybe meet people to collaborate with down the road. Iām making a bit of everything from ambienty texturey stuff to the more experimental/hectic and whatever in between.
Also, Iām a massive autechre head and iāve got tickets to see them for the first time here in Bristol (UK) in November, whoās coming?
Great that googling worked for us I am looking into how we can improve the SEO, but itās a bit of a big task. Though I do have the help of my not too trusty friend āChadGPTā.
Anyhow, have a look around and offer feedback on others music and youāll receive the same in return.
Also check out our label releases in the Glitchpulse Releases section.
I have seen Autechre live (in the dark) twice now in Sydney. Not a huge fan of their generative shows these days, but itās still worth going to check out.
Yo, welcome to the music hole
Weāre all freindly. Tbh it seems like weāve had a lot of new members recently, maybe thatās just me. I canāt say Iām a veteran here, but it feels like thereās a lot of new posts.
Heck, I just prefer forums over other social media. The people arenāt as stupid.
Well, Iām sure youāll fit in. A lot of different styles thrown around here. Mostly IDM or similar, atm, but thereās a few people floating around that make harder music. (Like me!)
Iām gonna have to fess up now and say that it was actually your good mate Chad Jeepers who pointed me here. Using proverbial āgooglingā (and a touch of AI shame). As far as I can tell, improving SEO these days just involves sending a nice cheque to Silicon Valley.
I will do, looking forward to hearing what people here are making and eventually sharing some stuff.
Why do you think youāre not feeling the new live stuff? For me, itās hit or miss whether I really rate their live sets and usually thereās ups and downs, but I find it always at least an interesting experience.
thereās a reason they call it IDM. i know a lot of people like to distance themselves from the āintelligentā part but itās funny that it stuck and now itās what we got. shouldāve called it nerdcore
Funny enough, nerdcore is actually a thing - and a completely different sound.
Nerdtronic? Electronerd? Something to think about.
In some cases I think itās just people not understanding their genres properly⦠Iām preeeeety autistic about music, so I donāt mix with people like that
Iām just old and prefer their 90ās stuff for nostalgia reasons. That said, i think itās important for an artist to evolve and grow, but I feel as though the generative stuff doesnāt have the āheartā. For example, I noticed Warp has an album on Bandcamp with all their recent live shows uploaded. I clicked on the Sydney one thinking, ah yeah I was there Iāll give that a listen. Didnāt connect or recognise any of it so I left it alone.
I shouldāve known it would already be a thing. I donāt like to get too in the weeds with the genres though, I think we should just let them all play together
I agree with you on that, feels like they definitely put more of their heart into their earlier music. Now itās more pure experimentation and seeing what they coax the computer into doing, but I do also appreciate that in a different way. Itās not something Iāll just stick on whenever and listen to but i do think there is some value in just exploring the depths of what is possible with sound just for the sake of it
