Aaron King’s music is an exploration of what remains when structure falls away.

Once rooted in the precision of drum & bass, his process was fundamentally reshaped after a traumatic brain injury wiped out his ability to perceive and organize sound in familiar ways. In response, he developed a new approach. He abandoned the sequencer grid and the “rules” of production he’d always followed in the past in favor of a more intuitive process rooted in field recordings, foley, controlled chaos and experimental instrumentation. His work now reflects a search for rhythm, tone and atmosphere beyond convention that prioritizes texture, space and emergent rhythm over fixed structures, clone copy loops and familiar melodic soundscapes.

I don’t like to play favorites, but this is my favorite release on this label in a long time. Consistently artistic and exploratory. Such a relaxed collection of ambient layers, sonic textures, and esoteric rhythms to bathe my left brain in. I have mad envy for the concept and execution of this album. Nice job keeping it arty without being cliche, Aaron. This is inspiring enough to make me rethink and question everything I am currently working on.
