Hurbinek releases today and we welcome Pasquale to the Glitchpulse cohort. It’s minimal, deliberate and a little bit out there, it’s Bandcamp Friday tomorrow so don’t be afraid to show your support to the artist and label!

Hurbinek is a child mentioned by Primo Levi in “The Truce and The Drowned” and “the Saved”: born and died in Auschwitz, with no known parents, he did not speak or walk. It is said that he tried to pronounce a single word, “mass-klo” or “matisklo,” never deciphered. “The need for words pressed in his gaze with explosive urgency: it was a gaze both wild and human, even mature and judging, […] full of strength and of suffering.” This project, in memory of Hurbinek and that pre-formed word, beyond the bounds of meaning, seeks to move through the lullabies of infancy and the cruelty of history, the formless vocalizations of a pre-linguistic, childlike maelstrom, from which the word originates and with which the word contends. In this struggle, language builds and falters, laboring to be born and emerge from “the broth”: it is the very regurgitation of will.

Haven’t found the strength to listen to it completely yet tbh - as a father in Germany, even the description alone nearly made me cry. From what I have heard so far, it’s definitely a quality production.

Summary

I’m sure smarter people than me tried to decipher the word, but wanted to add that “Klo” is German slang for “toilet”.
