Druk Monet is a Sydney based experimental knob twiddler. He experiments with hardware synths and Eurorack. Something Foul is his debut album, self-released in 2015. When we first heard Something Foul, we knew it was something special and deserved a good audience. We consulted the artist about a re-release. He was more than happy to oblige and even re-mixed the entire album, ironing out the “issues” he had with the original mix and added a bonus track, made with the exact same hardware setup, that was not on the original called “Feed the Pigeons”. The album has also been re-mastered in house at Millenium Mastering.
The album’s strength lies in its simplicity and subtlety. It doesn’t rely on grandeur but instead offers a profound listening experience, where beauty is found in the understated and the intricate layers reveal themselves with each listen. Something Foul isn’t merely background music; it’s a soundscape meant to be fully experienced, guiding you to a tranquil, untouched world where nature thrives in its purest form.
