Hi, I am 51, I made music back in the early to mid 90’s but the usual story of life got in the way… After slaving away building a farm, only to donate it to ex, I decided it is me time again so I have set up a little studio and attempting to get back into it.
Mostly doing ok but stuck in the 16 bar loop thing, so have joined here to build community and also relearn all I lost over the last, what feels like 100 years. Hasn’t music and tech changed! Wow, it blows me away…
I have a simple digital set up, an 8845HS Ryzen pc with 64gb ram, FL, Akai fire, Komplete ultimate, a NI keyboard, and JBL monitors.
I feel more of an idiot because idm is not something I really am into… but I bought shaper 3 and thought this would be the place to learn more about it.
Fyi audio uploads direct to this site are disabled, otherwise our server would fill up too fast. You need to post a soundcloud embed or similar, but before being able to post links you need to interact with the forum a bit more. If I see you posting around, then I fast track that process.
Also, I recommend writing at least 32 bar loops, that is generally long enough to evolve into a second section, so you don’t get stuck in the loop trap.
