Ethics of using ai

AI is a tool like any other…but

It isn’t a replacement for doing the work.

It isn’t a shortcut.

If you want to get anywhere you gotta do the work yourself manually.

Cant just let AI do the work for you.

Why you ask, when you come to dependant on the tool you can’t live without it…and to be honest humanity got along fine before ai.

To my knowledge AI works using the mathematics of backpropagation, forward propagation, and neural nets that employ mathematical concepts such as eigenmondes eigenvalues within the context of matrices I believe. Not 100 percent sure.

In combination with other things…

I digress…

Tldr…ai we should use it sparingly otherwise we will cripple ourselves…for laziness is not a respectable virtue

I’ve been thinking about making a topic like this for a bit, so thanks for giving me an outlet lol.

The only time I would ever hypothetically use AI would be to lower the volume of my vocals on my Devil Dance EP that was released through the netlabel. They’re too loud in spots and ruin what I consider to be a good EP that took a few years to make and was very personal at the time.

I no longer have the means to access the original music files, and I think Sona…? Is an AI music thing that you have to pay for, which might be able to do it without altering anything else, but that would be it in terms of what I would use it for. A means to correct a mistake on something I made myself without changing anything else.

Somebody sent me an AI cover of a song I made and I surprised myself by how much I didn’t like the concept. I would have been more impressed if it was just some acoustic cover or something.

It’s an interesting curio, but it’s not impressive at all, yet people are really defensive about their text prompts lol.

It’s fine for a gag but unfortunately has had some very real world ramifications. The US is currently a total shitshow, so that’s definitely coloring my view. My small “city” has barely passed a one year moratorium on a data center being built. I just don’t get that line of thinking.

That’s my take on it. My mindset might be different if I was making bank off of it. I haven’t met a single person in real life who actually likes AI except for douchbags who use it as a talking point.

Hi, I’d like to say a few things about this topic as well.

AI is a tool that masks the creator while bringing to the forefront those who haven’t created before but have always harbored a desire to do so. The real problem is that, despite the abundance of information available about AI right now and the incredible similarity between the resulting products, people are still doing everything in their power to listen to it and remain oblivious to what’s going on.

You can use AI to support a completely new sound design—it can be a helper, a helping hand extended to you in a tough moment; yes.

But planning every task through it, then leaving it to the AI—and then claiming, as you said, “I created the mountains with just a prompt; I worked so hard”—is truly nonsense; and it’s worrisome for the future.

Because this situation has actually proven that most people don’t even know how to listen to music and see it merely as a disposable tool to be consumed. For this reason, true music lovers must band together even more tightly and shouldn’t even give a second thought to this situation turning into a dumpster fire.

Because AI isn’t a structure you can compete with—it’s something that can be easily integrated into any system and, as time goes on, becomes simpler and faster, allowing people to focus solely on the genres they want, serving whatever trends come along, and anything else will be deemed boring and worthless. Just look at content and visuals produced a year ago, and you’ll understand; if someone were to do the exact same thing right now, you’d say, “That’s enough.” Even when things are flowing naturally in life, we say “that’s enough”—and I suppose we’re the only ones who can speak out against this trash heap

Presentations that summarize the perspectives you’ve considered—but which AI brings to life as visual images—are truly amazing. However, the pointlessness and hypocrisy of having something designed and then proceeding with the mindset of “I’m going to make money off this” is truly frustrating.

Creating and listening to music are emotional acts. Sure, people can listen however they want; but if you’re getting into production, it’s clear to me personally that I have no respect for you as someone who mechanizes the process

I find the sweeping statements about “AI ruining the world” is concerning. I see the benefits in utilizing the overall concept as a tool even if only for info aggregation. I also can personally relate to how AI can push a person to make bad decisions, whether artistically or in their physical existence. Google data centers and others have been sucking the water out of villages for decades, and why are we only now making a fuss? that’s a question I have.

I have benefited and learned amazing things from using AI as a guide, in the same way when we started out using search engines. People were afraid of those back then too. I’m not saying anything is good, i’m just calling it out for what it is: new tech is scary. especially when there’s real world shittiness happening where we can place the blame on AI.

weirdly, this reminds me of sex education when we were teenagers, especially from my adolescent perspective growing up as a pastor’s kid where my #1 adult mentor would give me explanations such as “because god says so” or “that’s not the christian way”. when it came to the sex thing, the only explanation i ever got from the adults around me was thinly-veiled spiritual threats that if i did it, it was a sin. not one of them could give me a rational, non-religious reason why having promiscuous sex was a bad thing. no one told me about pregnancy or condoms or birth control or disease. just that, god hates when you fuck before marriage. god that’s such bullshit, right? at that point once i’d had a small taste of sexytime, yeh i was fuckin horny and wanted to bang, but besides enveloping me in the habitual shame and guilt of not following their interpretation of the Bible, no one explained to me the real human risks. it was all sugar coated with bible verses, preacher rants, fire & brimstone, and when i was mid-teens even then my bullshit radar was boopin like a dolphin pod orgy against a submarine.

the issue here is it’s new tech, and the majority of folks who got a bad taste in their mouth from one aspect of AI that they probably didn’t even explore, now all things AI is bad.

don’t get me wrong, i definitely think there is a huge possibility of a butlerian jihad (read DUNE) in humanity’s future due to our issue with compounding a lot of similar things into the sum total of one thing and deciding it’s bad.

i think it’s dangerous when we talk about AI like it’s just one thing, like it’s just generating art that steals from artists or musicians. if you haven’t figured out by now that there is so many situations of AI being used as an extremely useful tool that benefits, does that fit into your view of AI as a whole? i’m talking about using it for aggregating in water testing analysis or helping us manage data information that the JWT sends from the univerise. things that help describe and reassess or understanding of the laws of physics. there’s major breakthroughs happening due to certain people utilizing the tools AI offers that’s well beyond “stealing” music or whatever.

idk. what i do know is that even long before google, villages were getting a whole fuckton more stolen from them (they are now too) before any robot overlord was conceived.

i think we have to step away from the hype bullshit and weigh the pros and cons. i’m not saying data centers built by huge corporations should be allowed to drain out entire societies and living centers, but i do think we have to reasses and also not umbrella all AI under one banner.
