[COMPILATION ANNOUNCEMENT] IDMforums x Glitchpulse Records Sample Pack Challenge (brought to you by Analog Samples)

Really fun idea! I’ll have a go at this

Finished my track, it’s short and sweet

Lots of bass, and not really mixed/mastered lol, but I think it’s pretty good

No need to master your tracks as we will take care of that, but it should be mixed to the best of your ability. When you’re ready send through a private link to the track to admin@glitchpulser.com

Just the track, or stems?

It’ll be done within the next couple of days, probably.

Just a stereo mixdown with -6 dB headroom

Clipmax + 6 dB of extra gain. Got it :joy:

(Literally everything is clipped ridiculously anyway lmfao so that’ll be easy)

Finishing up today

I should have something ready for this comp in a few days. Its a bit “out there” but I had some fun with these samples.

Pretty cool, this is effectively like the Beat Battles from many years ago, on the old forum

edit: turns out they have happened in more recent times, too

edit2: samples aren’t weird enough, though. What am I supposed to do with actual bass sounds, as opposed to samples of water running down the drain?

Well, you could start here:

  • Resample them (that is, throw into a sampler and start pitching, save it, repeat)
  • Soak them in reverb and EQ
  • Granulate them (realtime or buffer)
  • Use spectral processing on them
  • Throw them into a wavetable synth
  • Throw multi-FX processors on top
  • Shower with multiband processing
  • Toss into a drum slicer
  • Use follow actions on a stack of them
  • Batch Paulstretch them
  • Batch Wavehammer them (throwback!)
  • Time-stretch and warp them

These are just beginner-tier ideas. There are a lot more. Also check out the track @LFO.juice made if you’re lacking inspiration! I’d also love to do one in the future with field recordings, too, if that ever becomes a thing. Or, maybe someone else will seed that one and then I can play

I bet if there’s enough interest, we would all love to do stuff like that again, too. The ones that got really creative and went off the rails were downright hilarious. If this spawns something like that, I’d actually be pretty damn happy

Hey man, all I did was splashed some distortion and pitched resonators on mine and I got a full colourbass track - sooooo

Am I the only one that got the humour here?
