Boots and Cats from Canada

Hey all, I’m Dal and am currently making electronic music under the name Pharmax. Just started with this genre a couple of years ago but I used to be in a punk band and did some solo acoustic stuff after that.

Doesn’t look like there’s a whole lot of Logic Pro users here so I don’t know if that tarnishes my brand new reputation around here.

Anyway, been enjoying the posts and look forward to reading more!

Welcome! @Guy_Wachtel is a LP user and I am a former user as well. I think @wayne is too?

But a DAW is a DAW. They all do the same thing

Nice, logic pro… That must’ve cost a lot of money, right?
Regardless, welcome! You’ll enjoy it here… Most of us make electronic of some sort.

Not sure if this is a joke that’s just going over my head right now, but no. lol

Logic is one of the cheapest fully featured daw’s out there (aside of course, from the free ones). It’s only 200$ (last time i checked.) Compared to something like Ableton suite / FL studio all plugins edition, hell even Reason (reason users, lol :face_with_rolling_eyes:). I’d say it’s pretty dirt cheap for what you get. The downside is that you have to have a mac. Maybe you’re thinking of like Pro Tools or something? That’s like some hella boomer shit, haha.

Regardless, welcome to the forum @pharmax. I am indeed another Logic Pro user, and have been for well over a decade at this point. You’re in good company regardless of your software choices, so no reputation tarnishing on that end

We have minimum posts thing here before you can start sharing links or posting in the listening booth / members releases, but if you start getting engaged with others in the various threads here I’d be more than happy to elevate you status early so you can share your work. Would love to hear what you’re doing with logic.

Welcome again, glad to have you.

Yeah I learned with GarageBand and stuck with it until I got to the point where it couldn’t do what I wanted any more. It was $200 USD (about $250CAD) and it’s amazing so far. I really do like Serato Studio for sequencing and sampling but I think once I learn this in Logic it’ll be great.

Thank you so much! I’m glad there’s people out there who don’t shit on me for not using FL haha

Thank you! Very much agree with you. It’s been killer so far. I won’t share any links or whatever so no worries. I just want to talk about making music.

Don’t worry about not posting links, you totally can! it’s just that creating topics in the listening booth is restricted for new members by default.

That being said, based on your responses so far, you don’t seem like a troll or a shit, so I elevated your user level. You should be able to post stuff in those sections now.

Just don’t do anything that would make me look bad or @Manton will be mad at me. (obviously I’m just kidding)

As a side note, I don’t know how familiar you are with what logic has to offer yet, not sure how long you’ve been using it, but if you ever want to know how to do something you can reach out to me and I may be able to point you in the right direction. Send me a DM, or post in The Studio. Lot’s of really knowledgeable people here, someone usually has an answer to most questions.

Have fun!

Partially a joke, I have very legal copies of my DAWs because I don’t think the ability to express creativity should be locked behind a massive paywall.

Compared to standard Fl Fruity (and I’m talking AUD here) logic pro’s an extra 40 dollars, at least. Cakewalk is FREE and so is (technically) Reaper.
Ableton’s hella expensive, suite is like 1000 bucks :grimacing:
But yeah, Logic pro’s on the cheaper end.

Yes, I did just write exactly what you said. I’m bad with that

Only for mixing/mastering audio with heavy video project files. Logic is a wonderful DAW, but I’ve been using Ableton to compose since version 1.0 and I’m used to it… plus… M4L. Can’t beat that. Both are fine, both have their purpose, at least in my world. Live is simply not made for video projects, and probably (hopefully) never will be. Stay in your lane Ableton!

I am also learning this late in the game that Logic’s MIDI options at this point far exceed AL, but the latter is certainly catching up with their most recent update. Eventually I hope to really sink my teeth in Logic on a deeper level.
