Between last night and this morning after a party, I wrote a mini-essay about the excessive consumption of ketamine in the electronic underground scene of Santiago. What drives the whole text is a experience I had one night, where a gun was involved.
People get extremely stupid and do stupid stuff on drugs…get into trouble…regret getting into trouble or doing stupid stuff and then after the fact they don’t take any personal accountability.
I’ve been to one rave that I think was called Desert Dreams in Moab Utah. It was in a DEEP canyon trailer community (just look up Moab raves). I have a picture of it somewhere, but I don’t know where it’s at. I was rushed by my other party after work and felt brave so went without much preparation. Figured people would have cigs and headlamps and other things. NOPE! I did a bunch of acid for the first time, but had horrible anxiety.
I probably would have liked it more if I had time to actually prepare, but it was a bit much. The terrain was hard to get around even while sober, and the music was something like German House or something. Just a bunch of sludge noise, ravers, and ALL the drugs for around 12 hours. It was certainly an interesting experience. The friends I went with looked like the living dead in the morning. I’d dever seen anything like it, but I’m not a raver, so it was all new. In the end I’m glad I did it, but it was a bit much.
My favorite part was playing ambient music and looking at the monolithic titans of rock cliff faces before anybody was there.
I got more acid from my friend the next weekend and stayed up all night and knocked out a song in one sitting for an IDMf comp. I’d much rather do that stuff by myself.
