The Epic Hardware Megathread

No, listen to me, just no.

Nice silver lining!

iZotope is charging $200 to go from Music Production Suite 4 to 4.1 :joy: or $50 until December 12.

If that’s their new pricing model, count me out. They are really pushing the yearly subs which are also $200…

No worries lol, I do really love the synth engine, but nah. I’ve made the new Electribe mistake too many times already. The next move, if any, is either a Pro One clone or a wavetable synth.

It brings a tear to my eye to hear/read people talking about the awesome Pro One.

Enough internet for you, go add more sleighbells!

Can’t do it. I seriously thought about it and just could not make myself do it

I’ve roughed up the guitar a bit and just a last bit of mixing to do then I need to scratch around for some vaguely Christmassy artwork.

U-he Repro was the gift to making music on a computer I didn’t know I needed. Then Behringer released that clone. The original Pro One doesn’t seem to be that big a part of house/techno history but I love the sound. If I could afford to own and maintain a vintage synth, I’d have one.

I’m considering, now that I have the Sub37, selling my Boog model D to fund the Bro1.

Going to scoop the Behringer dual vca and dual ADSR to get this Hexinverter Mindphaser based eurorack monosynth to 100% first.

I’ve been on tour too long, gotta catch up to my GAS.

If I end up not losing any of my classes to low enrollment I think Ill have to get myself a “Bro1” (lol love that). Ill not have time to use it w six classes but Ill be able to afford it

I just ordered a Behringer K-2 since Sweetwater has them $100 off and paying student loans is for chumps.

Nah but in all seriousness I’ve wanted one for a while and if I don’t like it I can probably flip it for a profit.

I just took advantage of some Sweetwater financing and scooped the Behringer dual VCA, ADSR/LFO, and dual Filter to complete this Hexinverter Mindphaser mono synth case.

Oops

S2400s on eBay for over $2000. Too bad Isla has a few hundred to sell for $1500 iirc

what the hell is this?

Apparently an old DIY 8-bit sampler kit:

*-bit and variable sampler rate from 20kHz with no minimum sounds good for fucking sounds up :eyes:

I saw that and cursed a little to myself (as I have a K-2 that’s only a few months old XD Oh well)

It’s pretty great, debatably better than the MS20mini

Exactly 84hp, fills my Niftycase exactly. This thing is gonna rule. Mindphaser is a complex oscillator that does wavefolding and phase distortion. It’s pretty close to a knobby FM monosynth voice. I added that BASTL mixer I built because Mindphaser has discreet outs for each of its 2 OSC’s that can be mixed and used as a subtractive mono as well (hence the dual filter).

Midi to CV and eurorack to line level conversion is handled w the case itself. (

that’s good to know, and I think the mini costs more too.

I love my K-2 a nd hardly care that I paid full price for it tbh. Behringer gets a bad rap, and Uli can be a fucking tool at times… I think he’s calmed the Edgelord nonsense a bit the past couple years, at least. If I had to pick two monosynths it would be my Minibrute 2S and K-2.

You all know I want this because reasons:

XD

But I need another sampler like I need to catch COVID again (which might potentially be a thing with this new Omicron variant that’s come up)

I’m sure none of us thinks you might have an addiction to samplers. Absolutely nobody would think that.

Gutted, looks like my modular synth has COVID therefore i can’t use it for 10 days :disappointed:

It all started with an Octatrack… it was a slippery slope from there.

Though I guess that MC-909 that I had once upon a time was technically my first sampler, but I knew fuck all about this stuff back then and never used it that way :eyes:

I once had a desire to get an Emu sampler that could burn ROMs to use in my Proteus. I never went down that rabbit hole, unsure if thankfully or not.

I still kinda want a PO-33…

Wanting to buy a sampler is what originally brought me to this forum and they all convinced me to buy an Electribe ESX and as you say…downhill from there…

I BLAME ALL OF YOU!
