IDMf Open Genre Comp (Feb 2026) 20 Year Anniversary Compilation Artwork Thread

Let’s go with Emerald please. it is more elegant. Green is a fierce color.

“Jardin” (French for “garden”) refers to the natural,moss-like, or foliage-shaped inclusions found within emeralds, which are considered unique, desirable, and evidence of the gemstone’s authenticity. Unlike flaws in other stones, these imperfections—including liquid-filled cavities, fractures, and crystals—create a distinct, organic landscape that validates the stone’s natural origin.

Made me think of a pic I took a few years ago. If someone wants to do something with it, be my guest:

Permutated posted this just now. i asked him to submit music to the comp and he declined respectfully but he takes some cool pics and makes some trippy visuals.

I have always loved Hymen Records’ cover art. Here’s a respectful nod to them.

The cacti represent IDMf’s own uniqueness and resilience, growing fiercely on rocks instead of the nice clean cut grass behind them - an allegory for daring to be original in the boring old musical landscape.

The back picture is self-explanatory, I think.

Original front picture I shot in Santa Barbara. Back is my own balcony.

I dig. Can you send it without the text on it? Also, successful submissions will need to be above 2000x2000 px

While I still think the first pic in this thread is the best, here’s a collage I made using magazines and glue. The colors are a bit hot in this in order to provide some pop on certain screens, but I also have a neutral colored version.

If you need a back cover I can provide a blowup of the same collage with moire patterns at 1200 DPI.

No probs!

I uploaded the full res pictures to the music submission link. There are the originals and versions with a larger white border to make up for any printing bleed needed.

(I saw the page for covers but for some reason, when I entered the password, no link appeared. Tried twice/on 2 different browsers)
