Pig metal
Oh yeah, this music is more common than most people think
If you go to (and I really don’t urge you to randomly) a furry convention it’s quite common for large crowds to amass around DJs that play this music. That’s what I’ve heard, at least. Never actually been to one myself. It’s the pure energy dude, the vibe. The funny. I exclusively listened to this crap for about a year, and it holds a special place in my heart. Or my ears, I guess.
Wait wait wait, the whole end of the song is just a distorted and slightly edited version of a track (by the same artist) called DJ FUZZYNUTS, which has the full vocal. I’ll send it to you as a file later. For some reason, I can’t find the GYNX! album that it comes from. Appears it got taken down..?
It’s the direct genre of that song. Imagine chopping breaks, but with samples and shitposts instead
Some of the songs I released in my first album are attempts at mashcore… Maybe a bit less chaotic.
This post is getting long, but check out these guys:
They all make “shitcore,” as many lovingly call it.
it used to be… kinda rough. I’m talking, 20 plus years ago. but i say, don’t yuck that yum you mother yuckers! I went to one sometime in the last decade. No I don’t have pics and you’ll have to guess which animal i dressed up as. it was cool, people were kind. there were ton’s of activities. and, as I said,
there was the dance party popping OFF completely full of sexy mother yumming critters tearing it up to music of this caliber and yeah it was a beautiful site to see. I mean, I went to one, do I get to call myself a furry now? Some of those costumes are like…
ok imma indulge
you can’t not love that art.
Ok yeah it’s definitely mashy. this fun, it’s kind of a rinsed down, flattened out, and then sped up again kind of breakcore/juke mash-up, with happy hardcore type breaks and a billion samples speckled, rapidly, all over the place. lots of change-ups. things stay interesting. yeah i can dig this. I can’t wait to drive listening to this. also any mashcore works as a killer “get the fuck out of my house the party is over” anthem.
this is an example of how everything comes back around… I’ll share what we shit ravers listened to BACK IN THA DAY. an old friend of mine DJ DNA gets first mention I think:
kind of similar elements you think?
I categorize my music by layering key attributes, starting with rhythm (e.g., 4/4, swing, halftime), then instrument focus (like synth bass, orchestral, or guitar-based), and finally grouping it by broader style families like bass music, 4/4 dance, pop, or regional genres. From there, I identify specific genre tags by listening for defining traits—like percussion patterns, vocal styles, or tempo—that anchor it within a subgenre (e.g., jersey club kicks or reggaeton dembow). This hybrid system gives me flexibility while keeping things structured when tagging or organizing tracks.
YOU WENT TO A FURRY CON?
I know you were already fucking awesome but now my respect for you has ascended
If you have an interest or passion with anthropomorphic characters (basically, humanoid animals or objects) and you’re comfortable with the label, you are a furry.
Yeah, I know a lot of people who are into raves, but nobody really gets down as hard as furries do.
I think mashcore is made for listeners with either a lot of energy, or ADHD. It’s designed to always keep you on you toes (figuratively and literally.) Some of my favourite BRN1NG BRAIN tracks are:
Posca von gabba + Tiffer: Canta Harde Beat
Onionroom - Grab the Knife (Chu Chu Rmx)
and that one song that I can’t remember the name of… Fuck - WAIT NEVERMIND IT’S CALLED PLURR DEAD RAVEYARD
Definitely similar - I think modern shitcore/mashcore is literally just a more evolved version of the OG happy hardcore scene. I reckon it’ll just be noise in the future
If somebody out there disses the art or the plushie I am going to leap into their place of residence through the window and slowly rip their toes off
I generally classify things as acoustic vs electronic, and then dance vs pop vs ambient. Dance music will have more of an intent listening than pop, where the focus is mostly on the lyrics. Ambient can be complex or simple, but it is usually a gentler sound that can be tuned out.
What would a genre like breakcore be then?
It’s not really danceable and often blends “pop” and “ambient” (from your definition)
Do you have an avant-garde section?
I would say breakcore is dance (or breakcore, if you want), although I admit it isn’t perfect. But I don’t think categorizations should be exact necessarily
scratch that, I forgot how breakcore sounded. Yea ambient is probably better for it than dance
Really? Proper breakcore is usually really aggressive…
Ambient dnb (typical t-girl breakcore) is definitely ambient (it’s in the name) but I’m not sure…
Breakcore is actually considered a hard-dance genre by many people, so maybe dance is correct.
But it’s your classification system, I’m just being a little shit
yea, idk. Just one possible idea on how to categorize
You dance to breakcore like you dance to metal…the only dancing is a moshpit.
But, why is it so soothing to my soul?
NGL, there are some ambient tracks that make me feel like I can’t breathe and even some harsh noise walls that make me feel like everything is going to be OK. I’m sure that’s normal, but I think the soft / aggressive continuum has a wrap-around when you go far enough in either direction
“Breakcore moshpit” sounds like the basis of future festival music
Music is so complex in that matter that I don’t even think I can explain it… I like to listen to a lot of “emo-breakcore” when I go through depressed periods. You can find me laying on my bed in fetal position with headphones on. Tbh it probably doesn’t help with the whole depression thing but I think I’d actually go insane if I listened to happy pop as depressed music.
