The philosophy thread (reminder philosophy is not politics nor conspiracy theories)

What kind of man are you?

What kind of woman are you?

nobody has to answer but it’s something to think about on a personal level.

I actually came to the realization the other day that I’m becoming Dinkleberg from the Fairly Oddparents. And I’m excited about that.

Fill the void of personality

How?

Not with consumerist hobbies or consumerism

Not with work

Not with addictions

Not with cliche mantras.

….

By lifting your mask

Experiencing and reacting to life

Facing all adversities that come with it

Enjoying the good times

Pushing through the bad.

Don’t fix yourself so much that you lose yourself.

That’s great advice I wish I’d had a few years ago. I’m a different person now, in some ways better, in some ways someone I’m not sure I wanted to be a few years ago. IDK. I shouldn’t complain because I’m about the happiest I’ve ever been, but a few years ago me would be surprised at who I’ve become, I think.

One thing nobody likes to talk about is how boring achieving any of this would actually be

What I’m getting at…

Civilizational and societal cycles…throughout history.

The rise of, the flourishing civilization that results…and the eventual decline…until something new arises and repeats the cycle.

Just thinking about it.

Sparta got somethings right with making individual personal excellence a foundation of society.

So did Athens with democracy but failed to keep in check the whims of mob rule and Machiavellianism

Rome got some things right with the Republic…but the Roman empire declined due to a variety of factors part of it was fucked up crazy Roman emperor’s.

Genghis khan brought about secularism in government.

Rebellion against the English monarchy brought about

Free speech, and all people are created equal….

Wonder what comes next…

Instead of rehashing history in different forms…we either learn and innovate or we just ride the cycle of the tides. Hopefully some learning occurs….and we innovate.

For with every societal evolution there is an adversity that precedes it.

Just wondering what comes next.
