Got my hands on this today from Reverb, can’t wait to try it out! I mostly stick to collecting analog hardware, but lately I’ve wanted to get more digital tones in my music. I’ve also never really messed around with a wavetable synth.

nice, I’ve always kinda wanted one but never really went for it.

only semi-related, another Behringer clone

I was never going to buy the hardware (can’t justify spending the money for it) but this I may get:

Picked up a Yamaha FB01 over the weekend. My DAW is down at the moment awaiting a new video card so I have to wait to dive into this thing with FB01 Sound Editor.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that person might be you?

It’s crazy how groovy this akai mpc’s were and are

Another video and also groovy …btw this guy was popular in russia and died on 5 april (10 days ago)

Apparently they even have software versions for cheap: Akai Professional MPC Studio Music Production Controller & MPC Software - inMusic Store . oops, this is the hardware thread

I’ve been using Launchpads off and on for fingerdrumming, but there’s nothing wrong with imposing some limits and trying to crank out a whole song with a pretty minimal setup and one of these bad boys. Things like that are really good for trying to create a kind of ‘flow state’ where you don’t have to dive into menus and all of that shit that can sometimes interrupt certain parts of the process

Just popping in to say this thread looks awfully quiet.

Well, my new year’s resolution was to not buy anything this year so I haven’t been paying as much attention to the gear news. Watch out in 2026 tho.

I still love my Moog One, pretty much the only thing I play now. Thought about selling my 8 voice to buy a 16 voice, but the 16 voices are more tempermental and I honestly don’t feel limited with 8 voices most of the time. There are exactly 2 layered patches I’ve made where 16 voices would be nice.

Mostly interested in outboard FX (think Memory Man, CE-2W), but I’ve gone that route before and I didn’t use them much because they were a chore to set up. I’m not sure I want to spend big money on that. Also, have gotten on more with the internal FX of the One. They’re not like H9 level, and they don’t integrate with the synth via any modulation, but I’ve figured out how to get good sounds out of them and can pull up the right one for the job. And I have a preset that lets me route external audio through the FX, which I pretty much never use.

Something similar on my end, committed fully to the MPC Live II and its onboard synths, no other gear not daw and I’ve never been more productive or creative.

I made a GAS video! Well sort of, it’s mostly me dorking out about my new project and the gear (+ableton) I used to make it. Also tapes

That was a great watch, and very high quality. I expected to skip around through it but I enjoyed the whole thing start to finish. A really nice overview of the hard, soft, and your process. The track really gave me 90s rave vibes on overdrive. Fun stuff.

Two big highlights to me - using the norns like that to ‘fill the space’ in live sets is brilliant. Also loved seeing the Proteus in there - I had one of the 90s units way back when and totally lost evenings to dicking around with it. You’re right that it’s a major hassle to edit with the stupid little screen and editing like that makes zero sense these days, but back then is was all we had and we loved it up hill both ways in the snow…

Dude, that’s awesome. I was really impressed by the editing/presentation as well as the information. I’ve tried to do tutorials and stuff in the past and I know that even when you know the material inside out it can be really tough to get it across into a video.

Great music too, I’ve been active over on Dogs on Acid as well and this kind of thing would fit right in over there.

Thank you! I was thinking about putting it up there too, will do that today

Thank you so much! The Norns is so much fun. I’ve been blown away by some of the scripts people have made for it.

And yeah, i’m so happy sysex editors exist. The more I delve into older methods of production, the more I begin to appreciate those 90s rave records. It adds a whole extra layer of awe for Autechre’s early stuff, or artists like Orbital

For people who may not fully understand how much we have been (and still are being) fucked over by corporate greed under the disguise of inflation within the last 5 years, this should open some eyes.

Here is what I paid for the Iridium on the 13th of March, 2021. Bought from Guitar Center:

Current pricing, as of August 5, 2025:

$3,499 (“on sale”). Add the tax I would have to pay if I bought this today, we end up at $3,780.

From $2,190 to $3,780 = a 73% increase.

A FUCKING 73% INCREASE IN 4 YEARS
